Hi folks...I decided NOT to accept Paypal as a seller after reading all the interesting and informative threads here...but I foolishly thought I would register so I could pay for an item and have it in time for Christmas. Well, I can't, as I can't register until a "verification" code shows up on my next Visa statement, which should arrive about December 15th. In the meantime...a customer has sent me a payment. The site is rather confusing, and I can't figure out how to send the payment back (it keeps teling me I have to register)and then close/cancel my account. Goodness, Billpoint is incredibly easy compared to this mess. Any suggestions? I know this has probably been covered before, if anyone could simply direct me to a thread it would be great, as I'm sure you're all tired of this topic!

Hi, MissSpider - I saw this posted somewhere, and it is what I did.
Go to one of the sites (I use CNN) that offers free email. Get an email address there that is way different from the one you have at PayPal. Then enter that one at PayPal and delete your present email. Don't give the new address to anyone.
This does not close the account, of course, and you could use it later if you wanted.
edited to say: I don't know how you can send the payment back to the person - why did they pay you there, anyway?

If you log into your Paypal account and click on your name at the top of the page, the last option that appears on the page that comes up is CLOSE ACCOUNT.

THANKS!!! I don't know why they paid me that way either, as I state in my listings and end of auction emails that I don't take Paypal. Oh wait, I know why, it's 'cause nobody reads those anyhow! I'm a little grumpy today!
