I'm waiting on snail mail payments, and WAITING, and WAITING, and WAITING.

Any idea how much of a slowdown to expect for regular letters and such??

Most of my payments are arriving within 2-3 days like usual. I received a book rate package 7 days after it was sent from TX to OH.

Almost all my payments are running three to four days behind, to Washington State.

Slooow. I just received a check from Washington State that was sent on Dec. 6 and it arrived in MI on 12-15. I also had a customer overnight a check to me and it took 4 days to receive. We've had some nasty weather in MI but not that bad and I live on a school bus route so I am plowed out within 2 days. Go figure.

If you wonder why your mail is slow getting across the country, watch the weather report on the news tonight and listen to the report on airline strikes and slowdowns. If the planes do not fly the mail sits at the airport and tomorrow there is two days mail to go on a plane that will hold only a little more than one days. So it all backs up for a while.

I've noticed even my local mail is about 2 days behind right now. Normally my checking account statement arrives to me 3 days after the date on the statement. This one took 5 days.

I was at my Post Office yesterday, and it was a zoo. The lines were moving quickly, but the traffic in and out of the parking lot was horrible.

BTW, how many of you have seen folks in the PO actually signing and assembling their Christmas cards? I saw this both trips this week. Nice couple, standing at the work counter, big stack of cards, stamps, envelopes etc. They were signing, addressing, stamping, and sealing, the whole process.
