This is too weird and I had to post it. You can believe it or not.

I sold a beanie baby to a female customer (judging from her first name). I have a number of the same kind up for sale and she knew this so she was very specific about about the type (ie. floppy ears etc) she wanted. She sent me several e-mails describing the type of bear she wanted. In the first few e-mail's she called my Honey which progressed to Sweet-Cheeks (OK a little bizarre) and the last one she called me something even more er... descriptive.

I have in no way prompted this and have kept my e-mails completely professional - not even friendly - just professional.

I received her payment in the mail today and inside it was perfumed heavily! I feel violated!

I just took the picture of myself off my About Me page.

Am I the Tom Jones of eBay?

Maybe the selling of a beanie baby is some sort of mating ritual for her!!!

Chris,
I noticed that many of the men that sell items in categories with predominately female customers sign their EOA notice jointly with their wife. At first I thought it odd, then I realized that they were trying to discourage female advances. I guess you will have to mention your lovely wife and comment on how helpful she is in handling your email correspondence. Hopefully, your customer will back off and look elsewhere for romance.

LMAO...

Chris, I had the same thing happen when I sold some doubles from my squished penny collection...LOL

She kept telling me how much just thinking about squished pennies turned her on...HAHAHA

Some people.

Now you might be the Tom Jones of beanie babies, but I'm the Wayne Newton of squished pennies ...HA!

As much as I don't care for Beanies, I think I'll start selling them.

That's it. Hubby Paul just read this to me, He has advised that we sell beanie babies full time and he's taking over the business entirely now. I'm not quite sure how to take this!

LOL

I think we are seeing a developing trend here.

I wonder if this is an attempt to revitalize the market?

I am strongly tempted.

Hello Chris97,

Simple solution...

Take the beanie baby to the local airport. Sit with it in any of the smoking lounges for about an hour or so. Mail said beanie baby to your customer with a note telling her that you enjoyed her perfume so much you couldn't resist letting her have a whiff of your aftershave.

Heheh

Sounds like a great new forum for eBay:

[email protected] or Ask Britannia.

After I respnded to one EOA I had one guy tell me he loved my name and that he would always remember me.
Then he emailed me that he mixed me up with someone else.
Short romance!

eBay. The only place in cyberspace where you offer free shipping and they counter with a marriage proposal.

It must be catching. Im female, and I sold a dress to another female bidder. She commenced to tell me, in the FIRST CONFIRMATION email that she was horney and lonely. As if I care!

Now Franny, don't let them shameful letters go troublin' you now.

You just forward them on to me and I'll take good care of that problem.

99 out of 100 internet senders seeking sexual interactions are male, regardless of what context might suggest.

I knew Tom Jones and you're no Tom Jones. LOL

Putting your ego back on the mantel, maybe she just spilt her perfume in her purse with the checks inside. Not wanting to waste good checks she used them before they had a chance to air out.

One time I received a bid just like always but the bidder's emails made me feel uncomfortable, nothing overt just my instincts were cautioning me. I maintained a professional level, emailed him when his check arrived without his signature. I never did receive a second payment. I went ahead and sent the item with the address that was on his unsigned check. It was returned to me.

I still have the check and the returned envelope -unopened. I always wonder was my instincts wrong? Better safe than sorry I always say.

I must be doing something wrong, all I get from bidders is a payment and a shipping address.

Hey! That purfumed envelope gives me an idea!

Maybe it's time for "smell-a-vision" online. You know, "Odor-rama" for the internet.

Yeah, I can call it Cyber-sniffer.com. My web site would offer an email plug-in that puffs out a re-selected fragrance or stench (right out of your PC speaker) depending on the mood of the sender.

Sorta like an e-greeting card with "nose".

I can think of a few non paying bidders to try it out on. (Hmmmm......rotten egg? or skunk?.....decisions, decisions.....)

If 99 out of 100 are normally men, then I guess Im still stuck in that 1% bracket that constitutes female. I even emailed her back politely, thanking her for her confirmation, and she continued on her conversation in more subtle detail. Sheesh.

I wouldn't worry about it unless it continues. There are some rather lonely people who don't know what to do.
