After seeing the movie Cast Away, I ain't shipping my eBay stuff via FedEx (unless i'm guarenteed that their the "lucky" 12 packages that actually make it to shore in the movie!!).

Anyone else thought the same way as I did??

I saw the movie last night, and have to admit I *was* thinking about all the claims those shippers were going to have to fill out!

And, for only $18,401.00 US (plus shipping), YOU could have owned one of the three 'Wilsons' used in this great movie. Auction ended last night on Yahoo ...

If you saw the movie, there was a 'character' named Wilson. Wilson was a volley ball that became Ton Hanks' 'friend' during his ordeal. There were three "Wilson" props used in the movie. Yesterday, FOX, not making enough money on the gate, decided to sell off some of the movie props at Yahoo. One of the "Wilsons" went for $18,400.00 US (plus shipping) to some brain dead, ultrarich, bored movie fan! You can also buy the pants Helen Hunt wore in the movie (in one scene) for two grand, or an exact duplicate pair at WalMart for 3 bucks

A fool and his/her money are soon parted.

Good thing FOX snuck this in before the Yahooooooooo new fees came into effect

To the Fed Ex man Wilson was much more than a volleyball, but to us it was only a volleyball. Now tell me didn't you feel bad when Wilson floated away? I did.

WILSON! Willlsonnnnn........I'm soooo sorry!!

I thought that really walked a thin line between farce and self-parody.

As for Federal Express holiday real life experiences have encourages me to avoid them like the plaque. Some gifts ordered from catalogs are Still not arrived. Many phone calls later.

"Now tell me didn't you feel bad when Wilson floated away?"

Of course I did, but I would have felt a lot worse if Chuck (The FedEx guy) had of sunk instead of deciding that his life was more important.

The point is ... poor Wilson or not, ANYONE who would pay $18,400 US (plus shipping) for a movie prop must have had a bad ocean experience too ... the water on their brain hasn't dried up yet
