I would greatly appreciate your response to the following eBay Gallery question:

Do you shop by Galleria on ebay using their search pages, OR, do you use a seller supplied link on an actual item page.

I ask because I'm considering dumping eBay's gallery for my own, or an Auctiva Showcase. The draw back to both being no
picture exposure in the search pages...

Thank you!

I love Auctiva Showcase.... but I still believe that the eBay Gallery feature has value. The search by Gallery Feature is important, PLUS eBay has a cookie that "remembers" the mode in which you last viewed the listings via the link to the categories from any individual item. SO if a potential bidder last ventured into the GALLERY from an individual listing, they will likely come across YOU ITEM in the GALLERY on subsequent browsing sessions.

I tend to put a SOME items in the Gallery but not all of them, and hope that the items that I do have placed in eBays Gallery will draw the traffic to my sellers list...

I sell and buy on eBay. I sell under this id and buy under another id.

I know that I get new-to-eBay bidders who become repeat customers because they go to the category and choose to see the listings with the gallery photos.

I know, too, that the experienced collectors will see the gallery photos and recognize at once from the little thumbnail that they want to mark my auction to bid.

As a buyer, for finding the unidentified rare items to bid, win, identify and resell for incredible profits, I find the gallery photos to be real helpful. It is amazing the number of sellers who don't take the effort to identify their merchandise and buyers like myself can pick up rare and valuable items within the area of our expertise for pennies on the dollar. I can see a gallery photo and from that little thumbnail see that the plate is a "Haviland Limoges Meadow Visitor 1876" or that the "tea set" is really a "chocolate set."

I'm a buyer only - not a seller. I use Gallery and Search Gallery a LOT. Weeds through the dross and the dreadful to some extent to find the items that I recognize.

"Window shopping" for the net - I really like the feature.

When I first started shopping eBay I spent many tedious hours filing through galleries, but soon outgrew that mode.

Now I, and most people that I know, simply type into the search what I'm looking for. You can generally tell from the seller's descriptions what you would like to click on.

As a seller I started out putting most everything in the gallery. Now, in an effort to save $ I began just paying for gallery for certain things. It saved me over $100 a month in gallery fees and sales are just as good or better.

Items in many categories are definately best served with gallery pics. I sell fine jewelry which I will still put in gallery, but many of the other items that I sell don't need to have gallery pics to sell, such as cookware, leather goods, etc...

I've been buying on eBay for 2 1/2 years now, and I still prefer to browse the categories. And when I do, I always check the "All items including Gallery preview" option. I find it extremely useful, since often seeing even a little picture can give me so much more information than the title alone.

I have tried it to sell in and found no increase in prices. As a buyer I have never used it.

When I am shopping I put in my search requirements, but also use the show gallery only. I do not like to waste my time trying to figure out if an item is what I am looking for. for the most part if I can't see it I don't buy it. If I can not find it in the gallery then I will try just photos.
