I remember when this was a hot topic of conversation around here...
Has anyone bought/sold anything there?
I snoop around there every now and then, and I can't even find an auction that has a bid on it!

It's been a while since I looked over there and you're absolutely right. I looked in many categories and there wasn't a bid on anything. I've been buying some DVDs on ebay lately and looked at AuxPal. Ha! You have to worry about an auction site that has 1 DVD listing and it doesn't have anything to do with DVD.
More to the topic, AuxPal had their moment in the spotlight by linking themselves to PayPal. A bunch of people ran over there and signed up. Then the fecal matter hit the oscillating circulation device. All of the PayPal people who went there got fan mail from PayPal informing them that AuxPal has nothing to do with PayPal and giving out PayPal password information is in violation of the TOS. I'd say this took any hope of a viable auction site and shredded it.
Customer perception is everything. AuxPal was very stupid in thinking that PayPal wouldn't mind sharing their customer base through misdirection. That was an incredibly bad move. People will never trust them for anything. It's just a matter of time now. They're offering an auction site with free listings and no bidders. Eventually they have to pull the plug.

LOL! Oh, it's so sad! Took a look over there just now. Their "Take It" prices are the same as their opening bids for most books (thousands of which look to be listed by one seller) so, in reality, the site is not much more than an online storefront. But they are giving "referral" bonuses out $1 for each person referred for the first 20 (deposited directly to your PayPal accoung), and $2 per person over 20. You also get $10 in "AuxPal credit" for each person, to put towards optional services. Pathetic! And notice the site is now billed as "Auctions for Everyone!" with the PayPal crossed out: http://www.auxpal.com/images/upfrontnew.gif
