Okay, so I got the $225+ box of widgets I paid for with Billpoint...and it turns out half the lot is not as described in the auction (actually, it's not even MENTIONED in the auction - with good reason, as it's virtually worthless). This means I effectively paid double for the as-represented portion, which is way above the average high bid for this sort of widget, so it's not as though I can just toss the bad portion and still feel as if I made out OK. I was really looking forward to this lot, so this is hardly a case of bidder's remorse.
I've contacted the seller, but no response yet (it is a weekend after all).
If she agrees to refund, will my CC be credited, or will she have to send me a check?
If she drags her feet on this, what's the best route to take? Contact Billpoint, or contact my CC for a chargeback? (I suspect the latter.) I'd use Ebay as a last resort, as I'd be out at least $50 on the deal thanks to the $25 deductible and $200 limit.

Lost me on this one,did you not bid on what was described only.It seems like you had no idea that there was other items in with this lot as they where not part of the description so should not these (though not worth anything) still considered to be a bonus.

You Said....."actually, it's not even MENTIONED in the auction "
How can it be "not as described"
As to your question, if the seller chooses to refund you, it can be done through Billpoint, and your credit card will reflect the credit.
It sounds as if you were gambling that there might be more to the auction than was listed, so you bid "way above the average high bid for this sort of widget" hoping that there might be something else there that the seller might have missed.
Unless I'm missing something, I don't see how you expect a full refund based on the information you have given here. If I was the seller in this case , I'd refund the purchase price when you return the items at your cost.

I think what HCQ is saying is that what she thought she was getting for her money isn't what actually arrived, and it turns out half the lot is not as described in the auction
I am assuming that HCQ bid on something totally different to what she recieved, (correct me if I am wrong) therefore how can it not be the sellers fault. Sounds to me like the description may have been wrong. IMHO
Refunds are very simple with BILLPOINT. If your seller refunds, she'll just click a button and type in the amount of the refund. It'll show up on your credit card shortly thereafter.
What's great as a seller about BILLPOINT refunds is that fees associated with the sale are not kept by BILLPOINT after the refund.

I'm picturing a HUGE box of quilting scraps, with half of 'em polyester doubleknit or burlap-----am I close??
HCQ, are you gonna go for a full refund or a partial? If partial, is it possible to still do a chargeback through your CC? I don't know the answer to that one. Through Billpoint, it seems the seller could send you back a partial.

Sorry I wasn't clear. Sounded fine in my head, but that's what I'm like without my first shot of caffeine
This wasn't, as some of you were led by my morning haziness to misunderstand, a lot of three dozen gold-plated widgets to which the seller added an additional lot of (worthless) plastic widgets, but a lot described as three dozen widgets in which the pics and description mentioned only the gold-plated ones, but which turned out to be 18 gold-plated and 18 plastic.
Anyway, thanks to murph for exactly the info I needed.
As it turns out, while I was typing this I got an email from the seller:
I am sorry that you are unhappy with the lot you purchased. I do, however, guarantee my merchandise. Please ship the widgets back UPS and I will send a full refund when I receive the item. Please write the return UPS shipping amount on the outside of the box when you ship (or email me with amount) and I will include that amount as well. I will notify you when I receive the widgets and will send a refund immediately....I am sorry for any inconvenience this may have caused.
How's that for professional? This seller gets a pos FB from me.
