I was just bagging up items for Good Will that I was originally going to sell on eBay before it got so expensive to have a cyber-garage sale there and I got to thinking that I had time to do one more batch of 10 day auctions before the price hike. However, if I start auctions tomorrow and run them for 10 days they will end on Super Bowl Sunday. Most of the successful auctions I have run in the past were due to snipers. Will anyone be online Super Bowl Sunday night? Anyone had any success with auctions ending Super Bowl Sunday night?

I can't answer your question, but thanks for reminding me that there is such a thing. I certainly don't think I would want to have any football memoriabilia ending that night.

The Super Bowl is the most watched program on tv, and following it is the new Survivor show. I stay away from the big "family" days because I've never done well on them.

Ahhhh Superbowl Sunday. The guys are all busy in the living room watching TV and guess what...I've got the computer to myself for hours and can search and bid to my heart's content. Hey--I might even look up some football stuff for my husband since it's on my mind right now....

Not everyone is a football fan & will be glued to their set that day.
Additionally, if you sell internationally, Super Bowl Sunday means nothing to them.
I've had some of my best days on "holidays" & other days when it was supposed to be slow. I even had people in bidding on Christmas Day.
Go for it.

I was thinking along the same lines as Joycel....
I would make sure that the auctions I had ending during the SB had a more "female" slant (God, am I gonna get slammed for that statement!!!!)
Personally, I only watch the SB for the commercials!!! And since last year, TVGuide has started listing WHEN the new commercials are airing, I can surf with confidence WHILE keeping half an eye on the game...LOL

Just the opposite at my house. I am a woman and I will be glued to the TV watching the Super Bowl while hubby is at the computer!

Unless you are selling supert bowl tickets I don't think it will matter much. As stated here there are quite a few people that don't watch football or the super Bowl

I will have about 5 things close that day. I don't really care about Super Bowl Sunday--I hate football. Hated it even when I was a cheerleader.

FWIW:
I'm a guy and I couldn't care less about Superbowl Sunday.
...and I'm not a homo either.

I don't watch football either. And, as I recall, my Superbowl Sunday auctions did quite well last year.

Since I am a football widow I do a lot of shopping during the games. Superbowl Sunday just means better snacks while I surf

Thanks for all of your comments. Guess I'll have one last hurrah and go for it. Who knows? I might have great success and decide the higher fees will be of no consequence. (Do I sound like I'm addicted to selling on eBay? Say it isn't so!)

Well, I set up a booth at the San Jose International Auto Show last weekend selling toy cars. I thought that when the Oakland Raiders game started at 1:30 business would go way down, but it did not. I happened to check my watch around 1:30 and the show was still packed.

Well, I'll definately be in front of my computer. I'd say that Football Widows will be the people sitting in front of their PCs on Super Bowl Sunday.

How are Sundays generally for auctions closing? I generally avoid closing that day. If it is a good day, what is the best time for a Sunday auction to close?

Hubby will be at a party somewhere - looks like it might be Ladies Day on eBay!
I can get the girls a movie and surf to my heart's content!
