He was a bidder on one of my auctions and whammo, just like that, he's NARU and there is an "administrative cancellation" of his bid(s). He had 670 positives against only two negs. It sure doesn't seem like he was a "slouch" by any means.

Possible reasons for this?

Thanks.

Maybe he didn't pay his monthly eBay fee?

Maybe he was breaking an eBay TOS. I once came across a seller that having Dutch auctions for an excellent info ebook, which he emailed to you.

The price was 1 cent, and he didn't bother collecting the money, he posted positive feedback and emailed the info right after the auction finished.

His feedback was around 300 positive, and only 3 or 4 neg. He was obviously just trying to raise his feedback rating artificially, I saw he had run these one cent Dutch auctions a few times before.

The next week I saw he was NARU'd, but it was only a temporary suspension, a few weeks later he was back on eBay, but no more one cent Dutch auctions.

I have seen this happen once. The person got their 3rd NPB and that was that.

Take a look at his bidding history. He may have been shill bidding for a second selling account.

I don't mean to be morbid, but death or serious illness come to mind.

I don't see any evidence of shill bidding at a cursory glance. His history shows he had bid on many items having to do with a certain theme, and has won several from one or two sellers, but has bid on this type of item with many different sellers, including myself.

Why don't you ask him? (or invite him).

I don't know about that Corrdogg. I was just curious as to possible reasons, but certainly not curious enough to ask him.

Yeah, I guess it makes a LOT more sense to ask us rather than him...

Hey, go get an attitude with someone else.

I think the most common reason for such a naru is credit card on file expired or canceled such that auto-charge of fees bounced, but there are many others.

I have an eBay account with >100 postitive to 1 neg. I use the account to buy, never to sell. The contact information is totally fictitious. I suspect that someday someone will figure this out and report it to eBay, and that account will then be NARU'd.

Maybe he got caught one too many times doing stuff ebay doesn't like. Copyright infringments, adult stuff in the wrong catagories, leopard skins, whatever.

Edited to add: With that many feedback I am assuming he sold also, and not just bid?

Ebay will cancel your account for many reasons, spam (inviting a ebayer to bid on your auctions) Websites, posting other auction sites on the ebay message boards, being vulgar on the ebay message boards, asking for bids on the ebay message boards, selling certain items on ebay, selling on ebay!

My apologies loosecannon.

You are right. This endless speculation is far more entertaining than simply asking a question and getting an answer.

OK, I see there are too many reasons why someone would be NARU suddenly.

Moderator? Better lock this thread before I say something that I'll regret. I don't appreciate a smartass.
