Have a nice find here, but no way to know if the signature is for real!!

How do you go about checking this out?

In case you are wondering, it was in a pile of trashed old books so I cannot ask the pre owner.

No, I did not post a pic.
It's Bob Dylan
Dated 1974. Personalized and included with a quote from one of his songs.

I don't know how to authenticate but here is a Dylan autographed picture for compare.

zeenza - Since you found the autograph the way you did, I would be inclined to think it is the real thing. The only way to really authenticate it would be to find a REPUTABLE autograph dealer or expert who would probably be able to appraise it for you for a fee.

If I had it, and I wanted to put it on eBay, I'd offer it with an explanation of how it was found, show a clear picture of it, and let the bidders decide for themselves. I would NOT guarantee it to be authentic.

That said, if I found an autograph I thought was extremely rare or valuable, I'd go for the appraisal.
