They are now BidVille...
They seem to be cruising right along, or am I mistaken?

Maybe a contender after all ?

138,000 listings...unique to them so that is pretty good for an independent new site.

I wish them luck.....

Auxpal made a good move now that I think about it.

They were the geniuses that went and set up their site so that transactions would automatically be drawn from your paypal accounts......remember the hype for the paypal auction site lol....funny thing was they didnt clear it with paypal first.

Auxpal would have required you to enter your user/pass for paypal to use their site.

big no-no

Now paypal has the message in every payment notification email about never give your paypal password to anyone or any website ......I am quite sure they had something to do with that.

I also would like to know more about Auxpal/BidVille - has anyone here used it? What were the results?

I'm registered over there... but haven't listed anything yet. Will be listing in several internet locations in late February, early March.

Another thing about BidVille (formerly AuxPal) is that they have said they intend to remain free... HOWEVER, they guarantee that anyone who registers with them BEFORE March 10th will NEVER have to pay to list on their site.

So far.... I kinda like what I see on BidVille. I asked them about whether or not they intend to have "community" type posting forums and the reply that I received indicated that they certainly WILL have chat forums in the not-so-distant future.

I should SHOP there more often too... come to think of it.

That would certainly help the site to survive

Unfortunately, AuxPal or whatever they are calling themselves today are about 3 years too late. I recall a similar situation when Gold's was the new rage. People said they were leaving eBay to go to this new site that promised the world. They got a gazillion listings in their first couple of months of operation, but nobody was bidding or buying.

If you look at the listings on AuxPal (or whatever!), you will find that there are thousands of bogus items (get rich quick schemes, email me for info type stuff) and hundreds of listings for bootleg videos and CDs. If they decide to toughen up on these bad listers (like eBay always said they would do, but didn't), the number of listings will drop substantially. Right now, there are at least 40 listings in the movies category that are 100% illegal.

I hope, for the sake of sellers, that buyers find this site and actually start placing bids. Otherwise, it simply won't survive.

Good luck with your stuff

I think this might be a good place to move stuff now that Yahoo has deserted us. I might start listing there very soon.

There's lots of "stuff" over there (AuxPal), but not many bids, at least in my categories. At this point, I don't think anyone is looking for a replacement for Ebay, as listing there is worth the price for stuff that you know will sell. OTOH, those of us who were listing our "slow movers" on Yahoo! are looking for a replacement for that venue. Most of my former Yahoo! inventory is on DutchBid and FairMarket. I'm registered on AuXPal/Bidville, but I'd like to see consistent sales in my categories before I start listing there.

I have listed a few things there and have bought a couple of items. I think those of us who watch the auction scene can be just as helpful buying a few things as listing them. So far my stuff doesn't have much attention but I didn't expect it to. I will be listing a few things there on an irregular basis as I have time. I have enormous inventories so it doesn't hurt to have some stuff out there that I don't expect to move quickly.

I know that my inventory problems are not typical of most sellers but those of us who can help support a new site should consider doing it. Wringing our hands and moaning about no competition and the big monopoly doesn't help end it. Helping to support competitors sites does.

I do hope that sellers will be listing desirable items that deliver good value to the bidder. Overloading a new site with junk will bring it down as quickly as not listing at all.

Just checked my Bidville auctions and have actually got a very nice bid on one of my items. Will do better on this item as it stands now than if I had listed it at ebay and there are about 2 weeks left in this auction!

I registered at AuxPal about three weeks ago and listed a dozen items. I'm having a fair amount of page views but nothing spectacular. No bids so far but am hoping. Items that go one or two weeks at ebay with no bids may as well go to AuxPal/BidVille. It's easy to list there and with no charge to me, I would much rather list the item there than continue paying ebay's fees. If and when traffic picks up items will start going to BidVille before ebay. I purchased one item there and left the seller his first feedback comment and he gave me mine. Got a great deal on the item as there was no other bidders. Seems to me that a bargain can often be found at the new sites. If you can, give them a shot as competition is healthy for the marketplace.

Actually its a pretty nice auction site and the Numbers are moveing up fast.

I started listing items three days ago from yahoo to bidville and I have bid there already in fact bidding there is 100% better this week then it been on yahoo in weeks.

I think the name change was a good move for them too.
