Hi All!
Remember the NES game that brought in the huge bids for me? It was Peek A Boo Poker. After I passed on a BIN offer, the bids went wild and the auction ended at appx $325. Well, I did alot of happy dancing - and shared some champagne. Awesome bidder - paid right away and I shipped it out via UPS. Guess what? UPS delivered it to the wrong house!!! Can you believe it? Unreal!
And now - may I do the happy dance with you all once again now that UPS has agreed to pay me for the first game - and my bidder is taking Hot Slots instead. That is the second of the three titles I had. (I offered so she was not left empty handed.)
Anyway, as soon as I get my check from UPS I will be ahead by $600.00!
Yes, Virginia - there is a Santa Claus AND he drives a brown truck .....
Happy eBaying, all!

Sorry, I don't have that game. I do have another really old one coming in soon, though. It is one of the first systems. I can't remember the name of it but I know it is not Pong. Sorry!

...and UPS does not know what house it delivered to??? I guess I am missing something. I always have to sign for my UPS packages and the UPS man confirms the address he left the package at.
Anyway, I am glad it all worked out for you. That doesn't happen very often does it????

The UPS man never has asked me to sign for anything. He just leaves the package on my doorstep...even when I'm home.
The last package delivered to me by UPS was insured for $400. I was home when it came...he didn't even knock on the door. Left it on my doorstep in the pouring rain. He did put a plastic bag around it...
This is one of the reasons I don't ship with UPS.

That is totally unacceptable...I would be calling UPS and raising some hell if I were you....what state do you live in??? I would not think that it makes a difference, but I live in Indiana. If I am not home to sign, they leave a note with a phone number to call...they just do not leave the package at my door...maybe they just know I'm a B#@%....LOL

I can't figure UPS out at all. We get almost daily deliveries at our house (hubby has a computer biz), and most of the time UPS just drops stuff off without checking to see if anyone is home. Sometimes they will knock on the door and then leave - by the time I get to the door they are usually back out to the truck and ready to drive off. Every once in a while they will require a signature, and it isn't always on expensive stuff.
Fed Ex has never delivered without getting a signature.

If I remember correctly, UPS only requires a signature if the customer pays extra for it - otherwise they drop, knock, and run!

BTW - I think I have pong...

Re: UPS. It has also been my experience that UPS does the drop, knock & run at my house - no sig required unless the seller paid extra. But...my driver told me that it depends on your area - some they can't do it in. Everything delivered where I work needs a signature and they come into the office - so who knows (although the office is in what I'd call a "questionable" area).

Hi All!
Yes, UPS knows where they delivered it - they gave me the address where they dropped it off.
I would probably fight it but I am quite happy to collect the insurance and move on - my customer is happy with another title in the series for the same amount so all is well.
As for Atari games, do a search on completed auctions. You might be surprised what you come up with!
As for Lemmings, I might have it. I will check and see.
Before this, I always thought UPS got a signature for higher ticket items. I guess I was wrong.

I can believe just about anything about UPS. I worked at a tele-catalog place in the customer service. We used UPS to ship. I was told that UPS would not require a signature if the drop-off place looked "safe". If it did not look "safe" they could drop and run. I took a call from one lady who had a package delivered to her parents house. The UPS driver "bumped" the house or porch or something with the truck, did some damage and just drove off. The woman was dumbfounded(my supervisor and I were as well.)I have also had an experience where I send some stuff home from Phila, PA when I was moving. The box I packed it in was in perfect condition. When the driver dropped it off(He ran very fast back to his truck) it had holes in it and was completely ruined. I was so lucky nothing got lost.

UPS refers to this as "driver release" (DR). The driver gets to decide whether to drop the package or leave you a yellow stickie for signature. The only 2 ways to avoid the possibility of driver release are to pay for their "sig required" service or to ship COD. And on the COD, if the recipient leaves a check on the doorstep, the driver can still do a DR.
Keep in mind that it's UPS's responsibility when they do a DR, not yours. Just make sure you are properly insured.

I don't understand! Something is funny about your story! How could the UPS person know after the fact that he delivered the package to the wrong address?? And since both you and UPS know who the wrong recipient is, haven't you contacted them???
Missing puzzle pieces here,

Hello!
Actually, my buyer gave me the address where they delivered it - and the person at UPS also gave the same address. The best I can figure is that since it was a drop and run the people at that house probably took the game then when UPS contacted them about it they said they never got it. After all, they did not have to sign for it - so there is no proof that they ever had it in the first place.
I plan on contacting them and offering to buy it off of them. If that happens I will list it on eBay again. They will probably deny that they have it, though. So, in the long run chances are someone is gonna have an awesome find at a garage sale at that house in the future! I wonder if that is how the super rare paintings and things are found at sales?
Just a thought .....

I occaisonallly get a package with an "Adult Signature Required" sticker on it.
I think it's a $1 option. But if UPS is going to foot the bill if it's lost, who cares.

I use to work loading at UPS. You ought to see how they treat the packages! I remember in training we were told to care for every package; blah blah blah... Then, when I reached the back of the hub where we actually do the work, the trainer said "whatever you learned at this point is bull$hit. If you want to take a lunch, hurry up and move fast." I still hated the way they threw the packages but had not choice. One day I took my time because I was trying to make a point and I had 15 people waiting because they could not take lunch until I was done my load. It's not a great situation when you have about 15 guys starring at you pissed off; Especially since most of them were "cholos."
Oh, I shipped a laptop to a friend of mine and UPS damaged the box and broke the screen. We did not get insurance because they said there was not enough evidence! That is why I just ship USPS in most cases.
