First thing this morning I get an email from a bidder: "Just state the %*@!& opening bid and stop wasting time", along with the auction number.

The auction is for a sort of high end, not easily found (I don't want to say rare, but it is), art nouveau bronze piece that I don't have the stomach to list without a reserve.

OK, he doesn't like reserves, so don't bid. I am no prude but profanity from a total stranger at 6:00 AM before my tea is a little much.

I decided it might be a good day to BUY something. Looking at auctions and find something that I will pay a lot $$$ to have. But below the picture in what looked like 32 point bright red typeface, is a paragraph telling me that I damm well better have a feedback rating of at least 20 with no negatives to bid, and if I am acceptable to the seller and win, I had better find a way to get payment by cashiers check ONLY to the seller within 5 days of the end of the auction, or suffer the consequences. OK...I don't want this thing THAT badly.

Click on another page to find the final straw.....a pop up pair of eyes following my cursor around... What the hell is this?? Some sort of Comet cursor?

But the real kicker is that today is my birthday and I am now officially as old as dirt. This reminds me of the birthday I had dinner at a Chinese restaurant and my fortune cookie was empty..no fortune, nothing. It wasn't a good year. I have the strangest feeling this isn't going to be a good year either.

One other thing, my feedback is sitting at 499. I always leave feedback, but not one buyer in the last week has reciprocated...

Ever have one of these days?

Thank you. I am glad to hear that not everyone is 20 something and unwrinkled.

Reddeer, A mocha chocolate genoise layered with fresh raspberries! How did you know? Absolutely the best birthday cake ever.
