Hi...
Just a thought...you insights would be appreciated...
Antiques and collectibles are a very tiny part of the overall economy.
The new items (wholesale purchased) etc...regardless if weight loss, cars,
homes, widgets, computers, etc...are a much larger part.
Here's the point - the more people that come to eBay the better it is for those who
sell the antiques and collectibles.
Re: the antiques and collectibles - how many times have you gone to live auctions and watch people bid way over the selling value on eBay - then, turn around and try to sell and a over value price.
Value is determined by supply and demand. Witness the plunge in bakelite jewelery. At one time rare - now, its all over. Graniteware, same thing.
Those who seek out the wholesalers...had to know they were eventually going to
compete with the larger operations. One only has to go to the ChinaMall and get all the cheap stuff - but, not much profit on eBay - its everywhere. The only ones making $ are the wholesalers. If it were going to make some serious money, they'd sell it themselves.
As far as eBay and greed....aren't we all in this for money?
Really, I don't spend 40-80 hrs. weekly just for laughs...Do You?
We can critize eBay for lack of service, growing pains, site instability, etc. Yet,
for all their faults, their job is to bring traffic...
