I purchased a huge quantity of beads last summer along with key chain rings, and all the things needed to make beadie critters. I was wondering if it was OK to make my own beadie kits for sale OR would I do better just trying to move the entire lot of beads and the other materials I had purchased?

I have all I need to make many different bead critter kits and I didn't know which might be the better seller. Any ideas?

The amount of beads I have fills a box (seperated of course) of about 2 square feet and I have loads of patterns.

Any feedback you guys can give would be appreciated!

why not make a few and try them out? You can always sell as a lot later.

I would suggest NOT making them. Be honest, little beaded creatures on a keychain - how much will you get? Probably not worth your time.

But places like girl/boy scouts, churches - any organization that works with kids - would like something like this. It makes good projects for the kids to do on a rainy day. Just be very sure that you include enough beads to complete the project - in fact, put in plenty of extra.

I work w/ boy scouts and I would be interested in something like this. The question is - where would you list it? That I don't know - I've never looked for this type of stuff on eBay. It's just never occurred to me.

I think this would go under the craft category. Beadie critters, or bead kits, have been pretty popular and I have seen some of the same things I have made for sale in Wal-Mart, already put together by a company, in the jewelry department.

Nevertheless, I have loads of beads and can make a complete kit including the craft lace, instructions, beads, and keyring. The other option is to use the clip, that I also have, so they can be clipped on to bookbags, zippers, whatever, which I have seen a lot of kids do.

Thanks for your feedback and I think I'll make up a few today and see what happens!!

I would try to make up some kits, see if they sell and then decide if it is worth it to you. If you are spending too much time making, listing and shipping them you could always sell the rest as one load.

Just for kicks, you could come list them as a dutch auction. Try listing 100 kits for 25 cents each. Make all your money on the shipping and save on listing fees and FVF. Ebay has already said it is OK to charge $4.99 for shipping on the first item and $1.99 shipping for each additional item when the items are under $10.00. Parents might buy 10 at a time at 25 cents each. Pay Ebay their fees off of $2.50 and then you could rake in $22.90 in shipping. Might only cost you a few bucks to ship them and think of all the money you just saved by not paying Ebay more in fees!!!
