I tried to go to the Ebay cafe and the screen started acting weird, then suddenly changed to another window that said www.crashme.com. It said to save my work and had a second counter flashing! What in the world was that? A hacker? SCARY!

hmmmm....I put my Norton Internet Security on HIGH SECURITY and went to look.
Yes, strange...First, regular screen came up then changed colour, to a sandy-tan, then to white with lime-green writing with flashing XmatrixFlashFilm flashing all over...

Hi julie920. The crashme site shows the vulnerability of Windows and also the dangers in having JavaScipt enabled on your browser. The eBay Cafe situation may be the result of a hacker. I've also read that using IFrames in a signature can cause the redirection to the crashme site.

You're welcome, shoshanah.
That's a good example showing one of the reasons for DISABLING JavaScript and the use of iFrames in your browser. Here is another reason:
QUOTE
"Inline frames. An HTML feature, supported by Microsoft Internet Explorer 3.0 and above, that lets a frame of any size be positioned anywhere in the browser window as a transparent overlay. DART uses iframes to serve rich media. Iframes are ignored by browsers that do not support them."

I'm sure you remember the discussion concerning DoubleClick's Dart Code.
I've heard some folks comment about the pleasurable browsing experiences that I'm missing by disabling these functions but I really don't think I'm MISSING anything.

I am with you, Blanche...The little bit of fun (if script with a trailing tail, or music on a listing are fun), is not worth the potential headaches of having ActiveX or Java enabled....
I also have my "sending" eMail in plain script...no color, no fancy stuff...
So far, I have been very fortunate to not have had to deal with a virus...
