What is it with this new breed of ebay bidders. Maybe it is just me but I sense a negative trend here! Is it the thrill of the chase? Don't they know that when the lion chases down the water buffalo it eats it!! Bid- then when you win don't pay! Every auction that I have had in the past couple of months that ended up with no payment has been from a new ebay member, with 0 feedback. Does anybody have any suggestions on how to stop this, or at least reduce it?
Of course, then you always run the risk of getting a neg when you neg someone because they didn't pay, like that makes any sense at all!

Maybe they liken the sport of bidding and not paying to sport fishing where all the catch are released. The thrill of the hunt and catch is all they may be after; not the item itself!!??!

I think there have always been bidders like this; it is that the numbers of them, for some reason, are increasing.

I wish I was selling on-line during eBay's heyday - around '97 and '98. I feel like I am always too late to enjoy the better, more lucrative times!

Like most things, it depends what you sell.

I've been on eBay since 97, and my deadbeats have not increased since I first started selling. I average 1 deadbeat per 100 sales.

Knock on wood!

Check out mad agency its a online collection agency they not only collect on bad checks but they claim they can collect from your non paying bidders as well.

even if they cant get payments from your bidder the tons of collection notices they get in the mail and phone calls might change there there dead beat ways.

I am boiling mad right now. I had a bidder from overseas bid on over $400 worth of items, then asked me to add on more items. When I sent to process their sales, the card number was bogus. Their feedback shows a history of this kind of thing. I wonder why Ebay lets them stay memebers.

popnrock,

Make sure you file NPB and then for return of your FVF's; there is a good possibility that these will be enough to close his/her account, especially if others have, in the previous transactions, done the same.

Oxford, believe me I am going to file if I do not hear from them in 24 hours. It could be a simple mistake but I am not going to wait long to find out.

Dman, thanks for that information. Have you used MAD? I get 30-50 deadbeats a month. 'Think I'll give them a try.
