I just had a sale end today with BIN and the buyer paid with Billpoint immediatly. This is the story I was told: The package was to be a present for his cousin in Indonesia and could I send it Global Express Mail. Well the cost of this was 17.00 they buyer promptly paid and I took the package to the PO. Well about an hour and a half later I receive a phone call from Wells Fargo saying that the charge was on a stolen credit card!!!UGGHHHH
So I promptly call the PO and go and pick the package up, thank god they still had it. I know it is a small dollar amount 30.00 to a small time seller it is. I just thank god someone was on the ball and caught this one before it had a chance to leave the country. Just thought a warning was in need that it can happen. I will now wait a day before sending packages out. I learned my lesson on this one, at least I am only out the 17.00 postage and this scum didn't get away with free merchandise. I just hope other sellers that he bought merchandise from didn't send the package out.Anyone got any ideas on what fraud charges ect could be done to this creep seeing he is overseas? I do have all his info telephone, address, ect?
Thanks for any help, and thanks for listening

Anyone that uses Billpoint should read this:
http://www.billpoint.com/help/sellerguide/fraudtips.html
BTW - I've been selling items Internationally for close to 4 years, and never had a problem, except with a few American buyers.

thanks for posting that thread
I did look at this ahead of time the actual mailing address was singapore the billpoint info was from an american ( I take it from the name) and was sent to someone of the same last name in that country so I had no reason to doubt it.

I didn't know that the post office would allow you to take a package back once they had it in their possession. I always thought, once they had it in their possession they could only deliver it to the person who was suppose to receive it.

The reason why countries like Indonesia, Russia, Bulgaria, and much of the old Soviet block have credit card fraud to the point that one cannot do credit card business with them is that there is no threat of sanction by the local government.

Hi mrlatenite,
Transactions that are fraudulent in nature do not lead to an account restriction. These transactions are placed in a pending reversal status until the user provides us with documentation relative to the Seller Protection Program (I would advise reading the details of the program---sellers can eliminate their liability for charge backs if they follow the steps)
Account restrictions are rare unless there is a larger issue at hand.

Well I've been selling "internationally" for 2 years; although, being Canadian -- like my friend Reddeer -- I consider the United States to be, well, "continental". International is overseas!
I have used BillPoint -- very painless. Have no desire to ever deal with PayPal -- too many horror stories and too many hoops for us non-USAers to jump through.
I have always said "will ship internationally" (and have had wonderful transactions with bidders in England, Australia, Singapore, Germany and New Zealand, to name a few); but I might think twice about some of the Russian block countries. In that regard, I would only accept a money order through BidPay or cash sent through registered mail. No online payments. And any package would have to be insured....

Oh you guys won't believe this one!! The story gets better... I pulled the ebay contact info on this person registered to the correct name but false phone number. So I do a search on yahoo for this name and come up with a phone # for a person by this name in this area. I give the person a call and let them know that someone is using their name. Well this had person had unauthorized charges( but they had no idea til after I told them and they called the credit card company) on the card..Someone had gotten all their info and have been charging up a storm!!!! Pretty scary. All the info from billpoint said this person was in another country- singapore.Kudos to Billpoint for catching this one!!!
