Auction ended on 1/17/01 for a name brand pair of kids shorts. Seller paid by Paypal. I shipped shorts. 1/29/01 seller writes he wants a refund because he thinks the web belt is too loose. I offer a full refund including shipping charges both ways. Tell him I will put the refund payment in his Paypal account as soon as I receive the shorts back. Today, March 14, he emails me and says he is finally getting around to sending them back. What would you do? I guess I should still refund because I did not set a time limit on the return - my MISTAKE - I guess this is a warning for other sellers - be specific in everything you do regarding auctions.

I offered to pay the shipping both ways because I couldn't be sure there wasn't something wrong with the belt. They are Patagonia river shorts with the web belt, to me they looked ok but I'm no expert and rather than argue how much "give" this type of belt should have I offered to pay the shipping to get them back. I never thought it would take him 6 weeks to return the shorts.

Web belts are usually adjustable in two places...the toothed bracket on the bottom of the buckle can move the buckle tighter or looser. Don't see where this would be your fault and 6 weeks is way too long. It's an auction not Walmart. There's not a commercial business anywhere that refunds shipping both ways. IMHO this helps the unscrupulous buyers bulldoze and bully honest sellers.
