A buyer said that he followed the AW WBN link to Paypal and paid for his item. My Paypal history shows no record of his ever paying for the item (won on March 9), and I never received notification. He insists he paid. I think what he did was assume that by clicking on the link he paid for his item. I don't want this guy negging me but there is no way he paid for this via Paypal and I can't seem to make him understand that he has to actually go TO the Paypal site to make his payment. Anyone else have this problem and any suggestions on how I can get it into his skull that clicking on a link does not transfer the money?
I'm sorry for the confusion on this matter. I have rechecked my PayPal account and, unfortunately, there is no history of a payment from you.
The link in my winning bidder notification doesn't automatically mean payment has been made. It merely allows you the option to pay this way but you still have to go to the PayPal site & fill in the information regarding how you wish to pay.
I realize this is a bit confusing but will be glad to send you an invoice from PayPal which WILL allow you to click straight to their payment section.
I will be glad to continue to work with you on this matter until it's resolved to your satifaction.
Regards
seller
Maybe if you stay calm & explain where the link in your WBN DOES take him, he'll understand it doesn't mean automatic payment just because he clicked on it.

Write him a email and ask him to check his account. He can tell from that if it went through or not. I just had a similar problem. I entered the wrong email for my seller and when I went back into my account and after the sellers information it stated unclaimed. I am sure if your email sounds friendly that he will mellow out. Things like this happen alot at paypal but it is no big thing. I never put a link to PayPal on my auctions, just their logo.
Also in my EOA I state if using PayPal pleae use email address-Then I put my account info in. Good Luck

Hi ultimato! I too had the same problem last week - so what I did was e-mailed PayPal's customer service and copied buyer also. When PayPal answered, there were like 3 reasons why I had not received payment - one was buyer did not hit "submit" button and one of the others was incorrect e-mail address. When I received this from PayPal, I also forwarded it to the buyer and sure enough, he had typed my e-mail address INcorrectly. At least for me, everything worked out very smooth - hope so for you! Have a good day!

This has happened to me several times.
In EVERY instance, the buyer entered the wrong email address to pay- the were off by one letter.
Ask the buyer to verify the email address he sent payment to, and if he thinks it's correct, ask him to email you the paypal confirmation (which includes the email address) "so that I can attempt to resolve with PayPal." What you really want it for, is to figure out where he actually sent payment.
I had one that looked so much like my email, that I was sure it was right--- I finally realized that it was off by one digit.

No mail server is perfect. It is possible payment was sent, but Paypal mail server or your ISP's mail server could have dropped it.
Go to your Transaction History and scan through the payment received for the particular price. See if the payment is listed there.

Thanks everyone. That's pretty much what I've done, except for contacting Paypal itself. Checked my Paypal history and there is no sign of this payment. Wrote the guy three times now and explained that the link doesn't make your payment for you, it just takes you to the site, and you need to pay from there, etc. Then he writes me back again and says he paid. I guess contacting Paypal is my next step.
