Half.com sellers, can you enlighten me?

Got a return today, postage due stamp on it. Mailed the 2nd of March. Invoice removed from the box. Her name scribbled out, on the end of the box it shows 3 dates (6th, 14th & 22nd) they contacted her...This isn't a large book, so I see no reason it wouldn't fit in her mail box.

I don't see how it would have arrived to her postage due, as it was weighed at the post office, clearly marked media mail, stamped special standard rate, had the post office printed stamp on it...So, I don't think it was a problem with the postage being due for her to receive it.

I have heard no word from her. I emailed Half and am waiting for a response.

Am I subject to be negged since she didn't go pick up the book? Should I expect the payment (including shipping charges) to be removed from my credits? Am I liable to pay for the return postage on this book?

I have not seen anything in depth on this sort of thing at Half. If someone orders a bunch of books, then changes their mind, are we sellers left to eat all the charges?

---but if the buyer reports to Half.com that she never received the item---they will contact you and then you can tell them what occured.

Then again---she may never report a problem if she isn't even picking up her mail

No Zazzie, but from the outside it looks exactly like one. Since the invoice had been removed, SOMEONE opened the box. If it was the post office, which I can only assume it was, they should have saw it was NOT one of their boxes, no blue inside whatsoever.

I don't know what happened in your case but I once had a book returned which was marked postage due. Like you I was confused because the book was brought to the Post Office to be weighed. As it turns out the buyer decided she wanted to return the book. This item was listed on Amazon. I only found out because I contacted her and she said she had returned it. Why they mark it postage due is beyond me. I never paid any extra postage, so what's the point?

That same thing happened to me just this week. It too was marked postage due, it was in a padded envelope that I took to the post office. I e-mailed half.com and they told me just to hang on the transaction number and the book while they contacted the buyer. They said to save the e-mail from them and the info in case the buyer reported that I never sent the book. Good luck!

The only postage rate which includes return postage (if needed) is first class.

Standard (junk mail) and Special Standard (media mail), being cheaper to send, incur a postage due if they are returned to sender or forwarded.

See section F010 at http://pe.usps.gov for all the gory details.
