An auction of mine is stumping me; It had a starting bid of $4.99. I now have 2 bids on the item, but the price is STILL at $4.99.

How can that work?

Is it the same bidder for both bids? (check bid history)

If so, the price will not move off your opening bid until someone else places a bid. It is the PROXY system.

I see this on my auctions every week. People doing this are BEGGING to be shilled, but I leave 'em alone
