I take PP & BP.
Averages about 30% PP, 30% BP, the rest in checks & money orders.

I take PP, BP, and monwy orders. Since accepting PP, my sales have increased. about 45% of my sales are paid through PP, 45% MO, and 10% BP. I prefer to use PP as a buyer as well.

I use PayPal and Billpoint(luckily, no problems with either one...yet!)and at least 50% of my buyers use PayPal.

I accept PayPal and love it. My customers love it too... I used to get many money orders and checks; now they are few and far between. Many orders are now paid via PayPal. I had BILLPOINT but just dropped them because they refused to answer my emails regarding a $4.83 misc. charge. I won't deal with a company like that. PAYPAL is great!

Use PayPal, Billpoint, checks or money orders. More and more people are using Billpoint on mine, some like the Pay Now on the auction page.
Still leary about PayPal, but a lot of bidders like it, so I keep it.

I will take payment in any form that allows more people to bid on my auctions. I once took payment in stamps.

I take PP and BP and would guess that about 90% of online payers use PP to pay me.

I closed my premium "payoff" account because I don't need the aggrevation of the chargebacks + the 2% fee.
One funny thing I noticed when I closed my Payoff account, It stated that by closing my account I will never be able to open up a another account with them.
Very odd

I've NEVER accepted PayPal, and my sales are as strong as they were this time last year, and the year before that, and the year before that ..........
I guess it depends what you sell?

Had Paypal once a looonnggg time ago... dropped it due to their lack of integrity/poor customer support. Haven't had any reduction of sales. Occasionally a customer inquires if I take it, but when I explain I don't, they're always willing to pay by check or money order! Plus, why should I pay a fee to accept my hard-earned money? So that I can run the risk of loosing it all due to a chargeback? I don't think so!

I hope your same sales amount year to year without an increase was a joke.
I try to grow my gross sales at least 25% per year. And I take PayPal. I is about 45% of sales and BP at about 8%. I take credit cards (all including AmEx) direct by phone and fax and that is about 20% of eBay sales.

I use PayPal as a seller and as a buyer. Never had a problem and like it very much!! I also offer my buyers Billpoint but only one has ever used it.

Alchemy ..... Gee, sorry, I didn't meet my 25% increase mark this year. Most of what I list on eBay, sells, without PayPal.
I have no idea what it is you sell, but when I was offering CC options 80% of my high bidders chose to send a check or MO. In several hundred sales since PayPal came on the scene, I've had only 3-4 bidders/potential bidders ask if I'd accept it.
And for anyone else that feels PayPal is a must ........
A fellow seller I know moves 25-40 K worth of antiques & collectibles each & every month on eBay. He's the only gold power seller that I know that sells strictly antiques & collectibles, and has never accepted CC payments.
I myself have been a power seller for the past 2 years straight.
Maybe next year I'll meet the silver PS qualifications?

I used to accept PayPal, but closed the account last year due to their poor business practices and abyssmal customer support. Since then only a couple of buyers have questioned why I don't accept it. I do just fine without it, too. I do accept BidPay for foreign buyers to use if they wish.

I had a question about PayPal. We do about $50,000/month in business and we took PayPal about 6 months ago, at which time we stopped because they started charging us the fees. But I remember we were taking in half of that in PayPal. So as you can imagine, the fees may be around $1500 now, and plus we had to hire somebody just to process payments. That’s an awful lot of fees for PayPal. I suppose I should seriously consider it again, I get a request about every hour for PayPal. My question is, even though what we sell is somewhat unique, should I take the PayPal plunge and what’s the best system you use to reconcile payments because it seems that that was another challenge too. Where as right now, we’re accepting money orders and checks and we have a nice paper trail. With PayPal, we don’t have the paper trail, and there’s certainly an element of error. Appreciate any thoughts, and anything you can help us out with. We are really considering PayPal, but we just don’t know which way to go. Thank you.

Dunno why you couldn't print out a copy of the payment receipt page - has all the transaction info right there and would provide a great paper trail, I would think...

Hi naucratis,
Sorry to hear of your issues or problems with the service. Charge backs are a fact of life when accepting credit card payments, but users can protect themselves under the Seller Protection Program.
The second item (account closure) is being modified to current policy---users with an account in good standing at the time of closure are free to open another account.

Actually its a great thing that you actually increase sales each year by 25% because your going to need it to payoff those lovely percentage fees not including the chargebacks from payoff.l

Used PP very effectively when they first started out and was a cheerleader even after the fees. After getting horror stories from folks I knew (not just the many posts here) I no longer accept CC through PP unless it is someone I have reason to trust, like a former customer or someone with high feedback. I do still take non-CC payments. Right now I only accept CC from Western Union's Moneyzap, which does a very effective job of screening the buyers and I would accept Citibank's C2it if someone asked.
I have not yet written PP off entirely. The number of complaints does appear to be dropping. But the weeks to months that it takes their customer service to deal with a problem and their poor rating with the BBB still prevents me from recommending it.

I have never used paypal as either a seller or a buyer. I don't have any future plans to either. Might change my mind if the FDIC were to step in and start looking over their shoulder a little...otherwise no thanks.

I do take PayPal on eBay auctions. (over half my buyers use it)
I pay with PayPal on eBay auctions.
I'm also paying the post office, gas station, grocery store, eBay, etc. via my PayPal account also.

When I browse items to purchase, I will pass up most auctions that do not accept Paypal unless it is a must have item.
