I got an email from a buyer that bought a mens suit from me. Basically he wrote me back that it doesn't fit. He says I advertised it as a 42-44 and misrepresented the size....

I didn't know size, so I did this, in title, I put 42-44S? and in description I stated the measurements of both jacket pants, included, chest, shoulders, sleeve length, length, waist and inseam on pants....yes it is true it says 42-44 in title but with ? plus I did add all measurements.....I did not state a refund policy at all in ad.

He says its a size 40-42...and not even close to how I represented it.

Any suggestions?

Flip a coin. Heads he wins, tails you lose.

Look at it this way: at least now you know what size it is. When you relist it, perhaps you will get a better price because you can describe it with more confidence. Good luck.

I agree with misscandle....BUT....I think he should be out the shipping cost back to you.....I'm a pussy anyways...I always refund cause life is to short to fight about the little stuff...Maybe you can explain to him that you did NOT misrepresnt your item as you said that you didn't know the exact size...also you might want to send him a tape measure so he can learn how to figure out if clothing will or will not fit him....LOL..

I would say that yes I would give a refund. I sell suits mostly and it since you weren't sure of the size I would refund, but thats just me and I do like to my customers happy. Although the measurements were given, it seems that it wasn't clear as to what size it really was. Did you put a clause in for them to take special note of the measurements since the size wasn't clear? If so, then I might not refund, ok I would, but that just me.

If the chest measured 42 inches, then the size would only be a sz.40, which is quite a bit smaller than possibly being a 44. And a lot of people don't know that the waist will be smaller than the chest size on most suits.

For future reference, measure the waist of the jacket between the two buttons or the bottom two if it has more than two, and that is usually the size of the jacket, and it is also usually 2 inches small than the chest measurement of the jacket, measured under the arms. I say usually cause sometimes it's not that way especially in larger sizes over size 50 but for the most part it's the general rule of thumb. Thus providing both the measurement of the chest and the waist can be very helpful to someone who is bidding and will also prevent the undersizing or oversizing of the suit.
