I was looking at ebay this am and came across something interesting. When I clicked on an item it took me to the item page but a box popped up that said "to see this page you must download...." and it immidiaty started to download something onto my computer. I hit cancel and then closed the whole window right away.I was afraid of catching a virus or something.

You'll get this message if the seller has put those fancy cursors in their listing and you don't have it on your computer. You'll also get it if the listing is in a foreign language that uses special characters which you don't have on your computer (Chinese, Russian, etc). Another possibility is that the seller has used Shockwave or whatever it's called which requires special software to view.
BTW, when you get that message that "you must download", it won't actually start downloading until you say it's okay. Just hit "no" or "cancel".
