I normally sell 20 to 30 items per month at ebays last year, only had one bidder that I had to file FVF on the average. This year, seem like around when yahoo auctions went chaotic, I was having an average of 2 to 3 FVF per month, abit of a raise in deadbeats. Most of them newbies with a shade and 0.
Well I decided to take it easy last month, so I only listed 7 items, all with winners. Guess what? 5 of them I had to file NPB, and none of them even bother contacting me, and within 3 more days, 5 of them I will have to file a FVF!!!! 5 out of 7? Are the pranksters out this season with bidding being so slow this season?

That is *outrageously* bad luck! But yes, I have noticed the percentage of deadbeats steadily increasing over the last year or so. I just had to file 4 NPBs against a bidder - I'm out $99, but I guess the upside is I still have the merchandise.

I think getting NPBs is related to what you sell. That's only my opinion.
Out of my last 75 transactions I've had 1 NPB and that item was something of interest to the younger crowd.
It turned out okay for me though! NPB bought item for $16, didn't pay, I filed NPB and FVF and relisted the item. It ended up selling again for $39 and I was paid immediately by PayPal.
And no, I did not give the NPB a negative, only because I didn't know the circumstances why this person did not pay (health problems etc.). I wasn't out any money, got my refund, and item sold much higher, so I didn't feel the need to leave a neg.
If circumstances were different, where the buyer leads you on with "payment is on the way, etc.," then yes, I would have leave a neg.
Do remember that you are out your original listing fee as ebay does not credit this. They should either credit you for the listing fee when a fvf refund is issued or at least let you get the "free" relist much like they do if an item doesn't sell the first time around. Once again, this only proves my point about ebay making $$ off of deadbeat bidders!

Is it just the buyers that are getting sloppy, or also the sellers? I sell quite a bit, and I always try to get a contact message to my buyers within 24 hours. Lately, I've been doing some buying of my own, and I've noticed that half the sellers have been really dragging their feet in contacting me. After two days, I take the initiative and contact them, figuring that if I don't give them a little kick in the pants, that they may try to let the 3-day contact period slide and get out of the sale (yes, the sales have been very good bargains, which is why I'm fearful that they might try to pull something like this).

last month was the first time i had a problem with nearly *everyone* being slow to pay. luckily none of them were no pays, but i was wondering. others were experiencing the same, so it could have just been due to tax season and/or easter.
things are much better now
edited because i need more coffee!

celebrity8x10, I do agree ebays SHOULD refund you the listing fee, or give you a free re-list, but it just proves they want your $$$$ I guess.

yes quickdraw, that's my experience too. 2 weeks ago I had 3 auctions that closed with winners. Only ONE of the winners has paid me.

tomwiii - No, I'm not on AOL. I'm using a small local ISP. And if I don't hear back from my latest seller by this evening, I'll send them another email from my Hotmail account to see if that gets a reaction.
