I am interested in any comments on how slow does ebay get in the summer. I'm just an occasional seller but I seem to do better in the winter with sales so strong I can't list enough it seems. Last year I pretty well stopped listing more than just a few auctions by June. I'm sitting here now wondering if I should list away, or relax some until September.
How much does summer business drop? 50%? 30%? Or is summer even good for some of you?
Thanks, any and all comments appreciated.

John:
I've been selling high end sunglasses on eBay for over 3 years and I've yet to figure out specific eBay buying/selling patterns. They're very inconsistant and hard to track. We've had years when our largest month was February and July our smallest. Doesn't make much sense for sunglass sales does it?
I recommend that you continue to list product and hope for the best.
If you find a way to accurately track and predict consumer buying patterns, send me an email, as we'll be multi-millionaires within a few months.
All the best...

We are just winding up our auctions as we work almost every day in our shop during the summer seaon.
But during the summer is when I purchase the most items on ebay. I try to remember when the auctions are ending so I put notes on the till and hope it doesn't get too busy.

Last summer and the summer before were extremely dead for us, and we had more deadbeats than usual. I'm taking the summer off from eBay.

REAL Slow. If you sell collectibles or vintage items expect to give them away.

The collectable stuff I don't like selling in the summer. The boat business is great!

Hi,
I sell collectibles, vintage and china type stuff, and books. Last summer we were moving so I stopped around the middle of June and started up again when the kids went back to school. Up through about mid June things were pretty good. I talked to a lot of people during the summer as I went on my treasure hunts and most of them said they only listed a few things to maintain a presence, and worked on their inventory, paperwork, listings etc. to prepare for the fall. So I'll probably do that this year.

It depends on what you sell.
July and August were two of my biggest months last year.

I don't remember really noticing a slowdown last year until well into August. Then I got several deadbeats at that time as well, which made it seem worse.
One of those deadbeats didn't pay for a $21.00 item, so after about a month I re-listed it in late September. The second time around it brought over $140.00! Go figure.

So.....July and August were good months for some people? Well, I think I'll dust off the camera and start listing again. I'll never know until I try. I guess I'm gunshy because when I had a store, our local area gets quite slow during summer. Friends that have stores in non tourist areas also slow down. Then last year at the beginning of summer my ebay stuff slowed so I backed off until fall.
This year I'm going to go ahead and build up my listings again, then in a few weeks when someone else asks this question again I'll have some input (even if it is small).
