I did, only like 4-5 times,
2 of them was to their office
(had insurance, got it no problem)
And 2 times to a hotel,
BUT I always asked for an address first,
Then I called the hotel and asked if Mr.Xy
Was a registered guest, when he/she has checked inn and when they are checking out.
Dont forget to that!
And once to buyers cousins address, she saw the item and really wanted it, and
She would miss it other wise,
( but she was spending 3 months with them so,
I guess you have to use your own good judgment and always insure it, just in case...

Yes I do. People want things shipped to their work address, to a relative, to their "summer home" (had one of those this week).
Yep, run the risk of someone pulling a fast one w/PP or BP but if you spend your life worrying about every possible permutation of things that can happen to you, then you run the risk of forgetting to live.

On the other hand, I know a buyer who bid using a different ebay users name and password (violation number one) with the other person's permission, and on a different auction asked the seller to ship to a different name and address than his registered name and address. The reasons the person does this, is a mystery, but the person is a real cloak and dagger type anyway.

I once had a buyer from Venezuela who paid with Bidpay, and in the emails you get from Bidpay, they tell you NOT to ship to any address except the one THEY provide without oking it with them. The Gentleman wanted his stuff shipped to Miami to save on shipping, and he would pick it up when he came up on his monthy trips.
I emailed Bidpay, and explained what I thought was the deal (the buyer really was simply wanting to save on shipping), and VERY quickly (about 2 hours later, which blew my mind) got an answer from bidpay that this customer had a long history with them, and was rated five stars in their book, and to feel free to send it ANYWHERE he asked me to.

I usually Never ship to a different address when the buyer pays through credit card service but there are always allowable curcumstances I believe.

I have done this twice. Once they were buying for a friend. No problems.
The second time a young man purchased item for his mothers birthday. I gift wrapped and mailed. He left wonderful feedback and she was pleasantly surprised.

My confirmed address with PayPal is my PO box, but I really like to have parcels come to my house. My PO is really busy, and I sometimes have to wait in a LONG line to get a parcel, 'cause they run out of the "oversize" lockboxes.
If it's coming to me, I explain my preference to the seller and tell them to do what they're most comfortable with. If it goes to a relative, I ask if they'd prefer that I pay by personal check or cashier's check.
As a seller, I would only send to the confirmed address--I sell very few items (I'm mostly a buyer), and I can't afford to get a chargeback if there's fraud afoot.

yes, twice so far. just last week i had a buyer whose house burned down a little while ago, so she's temporarily living in another city and using another address for her billing address. i asked her about it, she explained, said she'd change her info so it wouldn't be a problem in the future, and told me to do whatever i was most comfortable with. and she's new to paypal, no doubt didn't understand. i sent it where she wanted it sent. seems like a small enough thing to do for someone who's house burned down.

Over the past 6 years we have probably shipped at least 100 or more to a different address than the credit card billing address - with never a problem. We do keep all related e-mails requesting such, and if I ever feel uncomfortable about such, I check before I ship.
People want things shipped to their office, a friends home, another state, as a gift, there are so many reasons. We presently have a steady customer who is in a burn unit in a hospital in California, but is having his items shipped to Arizona where he lives.
Certainly, there can be a risk, but not a great deal if you are careful, and double check if you are at all suspicious.
I occasionally use the online criss-cross directories to double check a buyer's address or phone number. We ALWAYS request a phone number in our original e-mail of Congratulations, saves time later if one should need to call the buyer.

I once shipped something to a prison. It was purchased by the mother of a female inmate whot wanted to have a gift to present to her child on visiting day. It was a low cost item, but I now remember she paid via money order.

Yes, I do. I understand when people want something shipped to their work address vs. home, or they're buying it as a gift for a friend or relative (which of course then involved the name being different as wel).
Sure there's a risk. And actually I've recently been ripped off because of it to the tune of around $15. But I've been selling online for a little over a year, shipped out over 700 packages, maybe about 5-10% of those to a different address (and sometimes a different name), so I'd say the risk of fraud is pretty slim in my category.
I'm not going to start refusing to ship to non-verified names/addresses because of 1 lousy crook.
