I have been looking for a room divider for my daughters room. I have come across some that say shabby chic. Which to me are really nice, cause they go with her room. Anyways I commented to my husband that her room stuff is shabby chic, because it is the same color and style. He says no, the difference is yours is Broyhill and there's is old furniture they painted. So what constitutes shabby chic?

Can't answer you specifically but there was a thread a few days ago about Shabby Chic(TM) having auctions cancelled. Has some interesting information on the how SC came to be:

Think slipcovers and flea market finds.

The woman who coined the term has launched a product line and has a web site at
www.shabbychic.com
