I have not listed very many items since the new Category changes. I have always researched where to put items before listing. But now I have spent at least 20 minutes trying to figure out where to put some old Columbia Record Club Magazines. It seems like I could have a choice of say oh 8 places.

Also I had some bells to list not a special brand, took me awhile to figure that one out also.

Well maybe it's me. There are both pro's and con's to specific categories. I do not like having to go through so many screens to get to a list. If they want so many specific categories then I would rather see one alphabetical list. Lefton is not even listed under the Collectibles Decorative Maker list.

I agree that its getting harder and harder to find the right category. I'm at the point where if I'm going to list something I don't usually sell, I do a search on similar items, just to see what categories they're in. Saves a lot of time.

I have been using the search also, just takes so much time for screens to load. Today I kept getting all kinds of errors in the searches, ie. items not in my key word coming up or I would search for the same thing several times and different items would come up. So I do not think Ebays search function is always very accurate! Imagine that. I want Christmas in January also.

I find it harder to place items I don't usually sell, too. I have an auction up now where I listed in two categories because of this. Thank goodness it's doing really well.
But here's my question, how can I tell which category is getting the bidders??

Do you think adding all of these categories is a ploy to increase eBay $$ by forcing us to list in more than one category?

I'd like to be able to tell which category also had the hits. The only way I have done that is if it didn't sell the first time, and then I relist in an alternate category and compare the results.

I do think it is a part of Ebays strategy, but also to reduce 100 page category.

I just worry about customers even getting to the correct area any more. I think it would be so easy to miss a whole entire sub list.
