Get ready vintage linen collectors & sellers! The newest issue of Martha Stewart's Living features a cover article about collecting vintage dish towels. Nice article and lots of photos. So linen collectors can expect competition from all the Martha fans and hopefully sellers will notice an increase in prices.

Ewww... you said the "M" word!!!

(Don't care for her much!)

Bought 2 sets of silverware "guaranteed for 20 years" at Christmas time and they tarnished REALLY badly the first week I had them - because they got WET! Returned them to the store and found out there were several other complaints & returns for the same reason.

Will never buy another one of her crappy products again.

ExecutiveGirl,

I remember those photos you posted of the trashed silverware! I just bought a pair of Martha Stewart grass clippers - only because it was the only kind my local KMart had! I guess I better make sure they never get rained on!

Maple:

Yeah, those photos are hard to forget, huh? LOL

There was a show on her the other night - I had to watch it because they trashed her in the previews. Said she stalked her ex-husband, threatened to run over her ex's girlfriend when she was jogging, left her SICK kid at school cause "she didn't have time to get her", didn't want to visit her VERY sick husband in the hospital when he had cancer and didn't know if he was gonna live.... and the list went on...

She is a very sick woman if you ask me. I was actually shocked at the things I found out about her the other night.

I wouldn't buy another one of her items if it was the ONLY item left in the store and I really needed it!!!

mapledr1216...Did the article mention anything about vintage tableclothes???...THOSE I have a ton of..hmmmm, maybe I'll cut 'em down & make towels!!!....Personally, MARtha is NOT my cup 'o tea, but I don't mind one little bit makin' money on her "trends".....

I don't mean to derail the thread, but I have a GREAT MARtha story.....Last Thanksgiving I'm hosting the feast (I host EVERY holiday!) 'm cleanin' and decide to break out some curtains that I bought about 2 years ago, but never hung....Three windows all side by side...I break out one pair, measure for new rods, have the DH install the new rods on all three windows....I then open the other packages & realize that ONE pair is a different pattern (same material type, just a different pattern)....Well, I hung 'em anyway, with the odd pair smack dap in the middle of the three...took my guests alittle while to notice & when they did I explained that it was all the new rage with MARtha....I think a couple of them actually bought pairs of mismatched curtains after that!...ROFLMAO!!!!!.....Now whenever I decorate in an offbeat fashion, I just blame it on MARtha!!!.....

Back to the original subject.....

I LOVE Martha!

From jadite to aesthetic brown transferware, mercury glass, etc....she has kept me in business for the past 4 years running her trends.

Thansk mapledr for the head's-up. I have a stock of those old dish towels so I guess it's time to release them

I will keep my old linens...us "early adopters" always knew they were too cool.

rancher24,

Old tablecloths are already in, especially Mexican prints and state souvenir ones. There's even two books out now about them. I think that's why Martha picked dish towels, because no one else has done them yet.

Capriole,

I started buying them years ago also. I used to find nice colorful cotton tablecloths at garage sales and thrift stores for very reasonable prices, but not anymore!
