I sold an item last night through BIN. Sent out the end of auction email this morning and got a response from the buyer this afternoon...a reply that just blew me away!
Seems my buyer had a Aunt-in-law who had lived on my street, ten house numbers away. She and her husband had lost track of the aunt nad had been trying to get in touch with her. The aunt had lived in the house she had inherited from her sister.
What was wild was that the aunt was my next door neighbor who had recently sold her home for health reasons.
I was happy I could tell my buyer where her aunt had moved to so she could get in touch with her.

Hi Amy, That is one of the things that makes selling so much fun! I bought an item last fall from an ebay seller who had a familar last name (grandmothers maiden name) and it turned out he was my second cousin and invited me to the family reunion this summer! selling on ebay does bring some smiles and delightful moments when you least expect it! Thanks for sharing!

These stories are so cool. I bought an Beanie bear last year from a seller who ended up being the resident of an office about five aisles over from me at work! He's in a group that doesn't interface with ours so I didn't know him. We ended up closing the deal (he had the item in his trunk out in the parking lot) and exchanging feedback before either of us received the EOA notice from eBay!
It's a small world after all, it's a small world after all... la la la

It never ceases to amaze me how this is, indeed, a small world.
Last year I was in New York (we're from the deep South) & stopped at a collectible memorabilia show to meet a friend from California who collects these particular items.
While we are talking, another person walks up & asks if I'm XYZ (my ebay ID) from ebay! Turns out, he's a repeat customer of mine, from CANADA, and just happened to be there for one day!
