Stayed up and finally did my bookwork. I paid EBAY more money in fees than I paid myself last month and this month seems to be on the same track. I'm work'n for pennies I'm finding out.
I have a few employees and this being new to me I'm thinking this can't go on much longer. Maybe I should stop this nonsense and go find something else to amuse me.

It's only going to get worse dealing with eBay. They haven't even come close to ending their fee hikes! The next one should be any day now. Add to that the fees from all the other intermediaries (i.e. PayPal, BillPoint, auction management services, photo hosting services, Postal Service, UPS, etc.) and it gets PAINFUL!!! We won't even go into the nefarious policies of eBay and these intermediaries on this thread! Just try and make the best of a worsening situation and hope some real seller friendly alternatives to eBay spring up SOON!

I know what you mean! With all the fees, it has started to not be worth it to list on eBay. A lot of time goes into running these auctions. At least I don't have any employees I need to pay.
I wrote about this subject at my website. There are so many things that you need to consider when figuring out the amount of money that you are actually making.

A buyer asked me today why s&h was $4.35 when postage was only $1.55. I explained that it covered my cost of doing business, and she was fine with it.
You know, people understand that bubble wrap isn't free, and there are paypal (talk about OUTRAGEOUS!), ebay and auctionwatch fees involved with every transaction. When they/ we go into a store, we're not paying for the item and that's all. We're paying for the store's employees, utility bills, etc... And no one questions that.
I think you should raise your handling fees to cover your costs. It's worked for me!
