Why not??? The point is to keep as much money for ourselves as possible, while at the same time offering the ease of electronic CC payment, isn't it??? Why pay 3% or more to a service when you can use one of the, if not THE LAST, FREE services in existence! How the heck can Yahoo offer PayDirect for free???

I got this tip off the Yahoo AW board.

I love PD -- only problem I've encountered so far is that around 40% (!!) of my winners who try to sign-up for it, CAN'T! Have never figured out WHY??!!

Love the accept/deny pmt function!

I've only had 1 Paydirect payment, but I got it, confirmed it, and sent it on its way to my bank account in a zip - and no fees... I have added Paydirect to the payment options included in my EOA notices.

I have heard concerns about Yahoo auctioneers having problems and then getting their accounts closed (including paydirect and all yahoo email accounts) - so I'd research more before I pushed it harder, but it has joined Paypal, Bidpay, and Billpoint in my EOA notices..

However, Billpoint just got a big black eye in my book by forcing their logos into my auctions..

THAT'S RIGHT! -- they complain that PD won't allow them to sign-up & then they get pi**ed-off at me! Like I said, I don't know why, but other folks here on these boards have mentioned this!

DGMW...I'm really pushing PD...just keeping me fingers crossed!

Yahoo is famous for trying to run a site that's completely automated so no humans have to bother to get off their butts. PD is no exception. When they first started, I emailed them with questions that received canned replies that didnt match the subject. Since then I have seen reports of buyers doing multiple charge backs with impugnity claiming unauthorized charges. The worst payment service you could think of would at least close the account if the cardholder said they didnt open it. Not PD. They will happily go on charging back the sellers. I even received email from a BUYER claiming that PD charged back his payment when he didnt ask them to and then refused to respond to him. I believe him because it was a $5 payment from a buyer with high feedback and the seller confirmed that the buyer did subsequently send a money order. So yes, PD is free and you will save a few cents on each transaction when you use it. Then you will be hit with one charge back that will wipe out all your savings and then some.

if your customers are yahoo fans and are active on yahoo, they either have an account with paydirect or wont mind opening one.
other than that,i think it is hard to talk them into signing up,remember their security password which is different than regular yahoo password just because seller wnats to save money, unless you are passing some of that savings to them!!!!!

Paydirect is for U.S. buyers and sellers only, so if you are a Canadian seller like me, it's no go!

As previously mentioned, most of my buyers cannot access PayDirect. I have even had trouble getting through.

I have a Yahoo Store that I just love, but PayDirect didn't process three of my sales and then dropped payment requests after 30 days. I just have never been able to get the function to work. Only get canned responses. I tried their auctions also with very little success.

The web site is doing fine and the Yahoo store search sends hundreds of potential buyers to my site each day. Now if I could just figure out how to get those 100 looky-lu's to make a committment I would be rich. I use Paypal and Billpoint for my Yahoo store purchases.

The problem with PayDirect seems to be the poor way the the subscribe function is set up.
In order to enroll you need to have all cookies enabled,as well as Javascript, and possibly ActiveX. In short_you must temporarily disable basic system security.
However it is not so finicky after the account is established, though it will still insist on cookies_at least.

I have never had a problem with this service, and it is infinitely more secure than PayPal.

Chargebacks are not a problem here since I will not give them a bank account.
And they'd have one helluva time trying to withdraw money from Mastercard!

You can give them a new bank account with $2 in it! Let em chargeback against that!

Yup, Yahoo is secure! I can't even break into my Yahoo email account half the time!!!

Overall, Yahoo has the best collection of sites on the Web. You can find almost anything on Yahoo and they're always adding new features. I spend a lot of time on the Finance and Investing section and they're always introducing new feature after new feature, and the message boards get MILLIONS of messages and hits DAILY! Why they can't put a little more effort into improving the auction business is beyond me!

Like a lot of services, you get what you pay for.

The quality of a service is also how it deals with problems. When I used Yahoo for auctions, I soon learned that I'd never get any customer service. Which is why I won't pay to list there. For free, sure - guess you can't expect customer svc when its free.

When they did their little wallet thing with credits given for eBay feedback, my balance kept appearing and disappearing. Again, no customer service to fix it.

I have email with them. I subscribe to a few of their groups. And I like both services. I use the email for getting info from anyone who I know will inundate me with spam so it doesn't interfere with my "real" email account.

But trust anything Yahoo with my hard earned money? No freakin' way!

many professional dealers and shops and museums and manufacturers trust yahoo with their money!
superstores are the most visited sites on yahoo shopping, prestigeous musuem gift shops, upscale boutiques selling antiques, collectibles, jewelry, electronics are there,so are the manufacturers of pc and other electronic goods.
shopping carts and credit card processing are provided by first data entry and paymentech, subsidiary of Bank One of ohio.
to view credit card activities such as chargebacks is provided by monetta for free.
there is no toll free number for customer service but they do return your phone call within hours.
someone wondered on another thread how can yahoo paydirect be free?
it could be yahoo has an account with paymentech of bank one and pays one fee for all the members activities.
so a chargeback from one member to another member has yahoo caught in the middle.
i think yahoo is getting the service free or paying very little in return for letting bank one offers this service online to yahoo shops.
just a way of ratinalising why is yahoo paydirect free while billpoint and paypal are not.

I've received several payments with PayDirect in the past, and have never had a single problem with them. I, too, wish more buyers would use them, but most seem to prefer Billpoint these days (which is fine with me too).

I've never had any problems sending and receiving payment with PayDirect. Have used them dozens of times. Seems fairly effortless to me. They can't be any worse than PayPal and BillPoint in terms of Customer Service, and they're FREE.

my problem with pay direct is that when i went to pay for an auction it required me to sign up, and then would not allow me to complete the process, also it would not send me confirmations to my email it wanted me to use a yahoo email, so i said too many hoops and just sent a money order.....................

yahoo paydirect works best if you have an auction account with them (buyer or seller will do). If you're not signed up with their auctions, it does not seem to work.

Why not set up a Yahoo account? It's easy to do. You get free email as well that you can access from anywhere. I've got 5 Yahoo accounts so far --- I use 5 in order to segregate correspondence from the various sites I deal with, and for free email storage. 2 of the accounts are tied to PayDirect so far. Could easily have 100 accounts if you wanted.

Don't let setting up a Yahoo account prevent you from using PayDirect. As far as security, Yahoo is as secure as anyone.

eseller;;;;;

my point is this i dont want another email account, and i want all of my email to run through outlook express, makes it easier for me with my slow machine, on the other front, security is relative, as well as customer service, my brother is in the buisness of hacking websites to proove or disproove thier security, and according to him, sites with more than a 50% computer operative rate can be breeched and covered up much easier, its simple the reason i am staying with my payment services is that the are easy to use and only required i give them my preferred email not the email they wanted me to have.

also i like to argue with a person not a canned response to my inquiries./////////////////////////////

I have about 5 email addresses all going into my Outlook Express and it handles it OK (although I probably have a faster machine than you do) - each address has its own function and purpose.

I can't even sign up with Billpoint, it's not compatible with my browser. Yahoo Direct just cost me lots in lost sales. I signed up with them and people sent me money through PD, but once again my browser was not compatible. The buyers were NOT understanding and it cost me negs and no completed transactions. Paypal is the only one that works good.

But if PayDirect works for you, it is a good way to go, just expect fees to be implemented sometime soon down the road.
