Well, how about some happy news for the weekend.
I struck out and only bought 4 books, including a 1947 copy of "A Tree Grows in Brooklyn" this was for me.
We all love to hear how everyone else did for the weekend.

Well, we didn't find an original Picasso or anything like that, but we got a good deal on some old Jade-ite Fire King dinnerware. Plus a couple pairs of nice jeans.
Oh, and a very cool set of books, over 25 volumes. The Unexplained--Mysteries Of Mind, Space & Time.

Found a horse skull, five sets of deer antlers, and a set of elk antlers very reasonably priced. And a beautiful farmscape done in pastels for me. Filled up the back of the truck with free pallette wood that can either be used for "rustic" frames or as firewood. Also got a bunch of free shelves, which I need desperately for the basement.

a few weeks ago we walked into a church rummage sale late. As we walked in they announced "Fill a bag for a buck". we filled several. The stuff came to pennies a piece. One of the items I found was an old Aurora Model. The Guilotine Set. It auctioned for $200.00!

More books than I can say, the most expensive was $2. Many had been in boxes since their purchase, and even when almost 20 years old, looked great. Had to carry them quite a ways and uphill, but it was worth it.

I went out today to a store cloing auction and in an hour spent $250 then went to an estate sale and spent another $2220. Needless to say, I certainly have some listing to do this coming week. But have checked and will be able to take that $2500 and mulitply it times 3-4!. What a great day.
So I skipped the garage sales and did all my shopping at 2 auctions. The problem is a lot of the regulars know that I resell on ebay and they want to start doing it. Good for ebay, bad for me! oh well, I didn't get everything so they can sell the stuff I didn't want
Plan to rest tomorrow and save my energy for Monday!

Hey loosecannon,
I hope you didn't pay to much for that set. I just sold one like it on ebay a few weeks ago and it only went for $30.

LOL cin131, sometimes there are benefits to living in the boonies. Sad thing was that I've gotten so disgusted at arriving at "No early bird" sales just to be told that they sold most of their stuff at 630am that I've started to go later in the day and on day two even. This time that was a mistake as the gentleman that was selling the antlers had sold $600 worth the first day and had gone into his shop for the second day's worth - I can't imagine what I missed.
AntiqueParrot - that's a bummer. My boarder/roommate/whatever is a great help to me. Not only is he an extra pair of hands, but he's found a few really neat things that did well on eBay - especially in the equestrian area. Maybe if you ever allow him to go again, you can tell him specifically what to look for?

I was just reading my Sunday paper when I came across the USA today section. In it they list alternatives to selling your stuff at a rummage sale, and of course, the first thing they say.....
eBay.
Soon there won't be any more rummage sales, I'm afraid.

Sadie,
I did tell him what to look for: potter with a mark on the bottom, things that looks crystal and whatever sports cards / music he thought someone might like. Unfortunatley hubby has in his mind that he is just not good/or not going to like it. So he doesn't, self full filling prohpecy.
We do have a deal though, I purchase/list - he packages and goes to the post office.

Great thread - I always like to read about everyones great finds! I had a pretty good week too,
At one sale I picked up a Chanel suit, Chanel jacket, two Ralph suits, two Ralph jackets, two Escada jackets, Escada silk blouse (NWT), Dana Buchman sweater & skirt and an Anne Klein skirt - grand total $40! Unfortunately it's all size 4, way too tiny for me .
Also picked up some pretty china (Franklinware & Knowles), pyrex bowls, garden gnomes, lefton, gymboree etc...
Still in shock over the Chanel suit & jacket, now if I can just get them listed before my obnoxiously tiny sister spots them!

A box with a cat in it (free)
Two large pidgeons $2.00 (live)
A saddle $4.00 (pony I think)
And some hot peppers $1.50
NOW WHAT?

I found a few neat thing this week end, I'm new at the yard thing so not real sure what is great for re-selling. But I do know what is great for me. I got 4 porch rockers for $5.00 apiece. (not the 80.00 ones)
Kate Spade purse 2.00 (now how do I know if it's the real thing?)
Chanel purse 1.00 (same question...real or faux?)
The thrill was about 6 boxes of books for $20.00. No clue to what was in there, books are just neat even though I don't know much about them. Already sold one by dumb luck for $50.00.
1958 snoopy magnet .10 cents.
I want to try an auction.

Tie a knot and hang on!
