Thought you would like to see this one. Paypal sent me this email regarding the benefits of using paypal to prevent chargebacks.
What a joke!

I must be naive. What is the funny part?

The funny part is that PayPal, who commits chargebacks all the time, and leaves all the burden of proof on the seller, is sending emails saying they don't commit chargebacks!
I guess my sense of humor is just different.
I thought it was hilarious.

Isn't the burden of proof always on the seller? At least, compared to Billpoint, there is the possibility of some protection.

Has this completely turned into the "PayPal" board? Isn't there a separate area to discuss online payment services, since this thread has nothing to do with eBay?

Surely you're misinterpreting something, rewassago. PayPal's seller protection plan is by far the best there is. It seems fair that they try to inform their sellers of this fact.
Maybe that wasn't what you found humorous. It's certainly odd terminology "to commit a chargeback". If "commit" means "initiate", I've certainly never seen where PayPal has initiated a chargeback against anyone at all.
Buyers do sometimes initate chargebacks against PayPal. If the rules were not followed, PayPal holds seller responsible. That's not a joke to many, but if it seems humorous, maybe you could let the rest of us in on that.

PayPal's villainous policies are directly applicable to many of our eBay dealings. It must be discussed here right along with eBay! JMHO

Roofguy, another refreshing voice of reason in the wilderness. Correct grammar and spelling as well (except for the second "initiate" which appears to be nothing more than a motor problem).

I almost posted about this email this morning after reading it and being a little stunned by the dramatic "My baby won't have a place to sleep because of Billpoint" quote! Geez.

At least paypal has a seller protection policy.
As far as I can see, billpoint has no seller protection at all.
