Just got off the telephone with Paypal to get clarification. Their deceptive letter of "congratulations" fails to make clear the fact that the $15 threshold for the additional percentage is no more!
In other words, if you're average sale is $10 you will be paying $.30 + the 2.2% whereas before you were just paying the $.30 (for transactions up to $14.99). For sellers like me, they've more than doubled their fees then sent me a letter congratulating me! Fantastic! I always did like to be kissed while I was being...

The $15 threshold ended as of today (I believe) and was announced awhile ago on their Policy UPdates board. Fee Adjustment (Premier and Business Accounts Only)

Notice Date: June 6, 2001
Effective Date: June 30, 2001
PayPal is simplifying its fee structure for payments received by Business and Premier accounts. A single variable rate of 2.2% plus a flat fee of 30¢ will apply to all payments, regardless of payment size or funding source. The $5 maximum fee will continue to apply to eCheck payments.

That's because this was announced a couple of weeks ago.

Which I called them about at the time and they assured me that I was misreading that email and the threshold would continue at $15. I guess they have a hard time telling the truth.

Then why did I get an email today saying I have to pay 2.9%????

Isn't it amazing that every time they "simplify" their fee structure, they increase fees?

The announcement you posted above is the first rate increase that goes into effect today. On July 14, you will have a second increase taking you to 2.9%.

I hate paypal with a passion, but i do like the debit card! =)

Heck, no longer do we have to wait a few days to get our money, just go to an atm and take your cash right there.

If they increase the amount they make, just raise your auction price by a $1, or take a check. Although their fees are outrageous, you got to admit, because of online payments, they do need to make some money for themselves, think of all the expenses they have.

Not saying i am agreeing with paypal though, 2 rate hikes in 2 weeks, please.

So lets see, You pay to prepare your listings with auctionwatch, you pay ebay to list it, you pay paypal to get the money, you pay the post office to send it away, so the botom line is, sniff sniff, you actually start to lose money.!

DOWN WITH EBAY! =)

So you can use UBID, WHO TAKES CREDIT CARDS FOR THEMSELVES, SO YOU DONT HAVE TO WORRY ABOUT ANYTHING. =) lol

And free listings.

You shouldn't have to use PayPal unless their terms specify PayPal.

There's nothing wrong paying through PayPal, it's at the receiving end that sellers using Biz accounts take in the shorts.
