Hello. I've got a question for the comic book original art sellers reading this board. Can any of you tell me where a potential new buyer (me) can look for an original art FAQ for newbies? For example, a website or newsgroup that can explain terms like twice-up, bristol board, why white-out on a page is a bad thing, what cautions to heed, etc. I know almost nothing about it, and don't want to learn the hard way & buy something that's overpriced or not authentic.
Thanks for your help!

Hi,
I'm not aware of an FAQ page, but try an internet search. Bristol board is simply a thicker art paper that some artists use. White out is "bad" only because it looks bad in person. On a copy (and hence the published comics) you can't see the white out, but on the original art you can. I've never heard of a non-authentic (fake?) piece of comic art. There are artist replications, but these are usually well-known.

Hello again! TPetty and Triplesnack, I can't tell you how grateful I am for the tips you gave me. I'm very appreciative and followed up on each idea right away, and I've already learned so much about original art today from these tips. It's definitely something I will now get into, and a fan can learn so much about the various comic book personalities from the research. It sort of puts you in the shoes of the pro's when you read the histories of various pages, and the time pressures these people faced. My respect for them has increased tenfold, and I am in awe of what they accomplished.
Thank you two VERY much for helping me get to a quick start!
