PLEASE get rid of this miserable popup for half.com! I have Netscape, which freezes every time that crummy thing loads. I had to come here with IE, which I hate. Still get the popup, but at least IE doesn't crash.

I only get it when I access AW...

It's AW's popup ad. This was discussed before and AW's response to one was to write in and have support cancel your account if you didn't like it.

Thanks, pobo...

I don't have an account. I just use the message boards...

Could you post a link to the thread that mentioned this? Must have missed it. I just started getting this disgusting nag this afternoon.....

Well, 8 times I have got the pop up in the last 5 minutes, everytime I click on a new topic or back up. This reminds me of those sleazy porno sites that keep throwing new windows at you everytime you try and x out of it.

I don't remember It was a while back. I get this pop up every time I post a message or bring up a different thread. very annoying.

Maybe someone else will know where it was.

I've gotten it a bunch of times today. Once is one thing, but 8 or 10 times? And it crashed my browser once today also.

hcross...

Same here. I didn't like half.com before...now I HATE them. EBay just gets sleazier and sleazier. Would you expect this from such a huge and profitable company? This seems like a desperation ploy...but it can't be...can it?

It's just website spam.

Try POW from www.analogx.com - it's a nifty little no pop-up tool. By using POW and ADSUBTRACT there is sooo much less aggravation when surfing.

I've been looking for them, the threads must've scrolled off. it happened before the jacket auction, and there's nothing before that date on here

half.com must be paying AW money to have these popups right??

Folks,
I posted this in the Auction Manager forum...

Disable scripting in your browser...MSIE has a control panel selection for it...on my Mac, it's in the "web content" area...

I also disabled Java for the time being as well...no navigation problems to report...cookies are still on to post...

Adding the tags for the spam to my spam smasher did not deter this latest round...they must be getting smarter...

Folks, get yourself a copy of webwasher and you won't see that pop up anymore. You know I can't post a link or this post will be toast...so use your noodle and put the 3w and .com where they belong and you'll be singing a new song.

I have a little "killnag" tool...but it just kills the whole AW site.

Pobo...I don't think AW is doing anything for free anymore...

Me too. Keeps crashing netscape.

They should get rid of the horrid thing. I only use the boards here, but soon I'll be deleting it from my favorites.

Wow, just installed the washer software - super - no more horrible pop-ups! I was also getting a lot about this super mini digital camera - never knew where or when, but it was just there at times. Whew.
Thanks for the tip

Hello Everyone,

It is my understanding that the pop under ad is only supposed to occur once a week per registered user.

I have reported this to engineering so hopefully it will be resolved soon.

This is just intolerable. Does anyone know the difference between AdSubtract and Webwasher? I hate to download yet another program, but I guess I'll have to.

here's the link to a thread regarding these pop-ups. The original thread has been deleted, I think. The first poster in this thread copied and pasted the original one.

http://www.auctionwatch.com/mesg/read.html?num=50&thread=359

BTW - 17 times and counting, and they are pop UPS, not pop UNDERS today.

18, after hitting submit... WHEN WILL IT END????

Hello Again,

Please see this thread which is the most current.

Believe me, you are not the only ones getting the pop-ups on a very very regular basis

Thanks pobo, Btrice, & Joice...

Read both the threads. Who is that Chris Barker guy??? Not an AW PR person, I'll bet.

Anyway...I can't stand it...I'm out of here. Thanks again, everyone.

Hiya Toke,

I thought I was losing my mind earlier today, 4 times in & 4 times I froze up. I also use Netscape & found that disabling Javascript seemed to make that freakin pop up disappear.
Do you run with JS enabled, or disabled?

Never occured to me that it might be affecting you folks on your own servers....

oops!

Disabling scripting eliminated them for me...don't know if it'll help you or not...or if it would interfere with your other responsibilities...

In any event, have a good weekend!

Jandel, thank you for that reference to analogx.com. I had never heard of it and found a lot of neat software there.
Also I downloaded the pop-up killer you suggested and it's working great!
Thanks!

HI everyone, this just happened to me also and I couldn't delete it without hitting control, alt, delete. If this persists and it is causing computers to crash then perhaps we should report it to the Attorney General's office. After all, we paid a lot of money for our computers and if this ad is causing them to mess up the company should be held accountable. I have read about this on other sites and people are pretty mad and rightfully they should be.

Just got it.

Guess I'll try something else.

If I wanted to buy on Half.com, I could figure out how to get there without a bleepbleep popup ad!

snowyegret and pobo, you may want to try the POW program from analogx.com that Jandel mentioned.
I just downloaded it and it kills the pop-ups just fine.
