Square Trades logo does the same thing on a relist. Wow, isn't that hard to delete it out when you are relisting?

This subject was being discussed in the services forum. Their new logo contains a script not allowed by Ebay, but they are somehow managing to attach it to new auctions. The small problem comes when you try to relist or revise your auction. The BIG problem will come when Ebay starts shutting down these auctions.
The light at the end of the tunnel will turn out to be an oncoming train.

I can see it now ...
Dear Billpoint Member,
Customers have brought to our attention that there is an apparent "bug" with a certain third party payment provider (who we shall not name (but their initials are P.P.) and who is ugly and their mother dresses them funny) and the eBay (TM) re-listing process. The re-listing process automatically inserts material from the last auction, and this payment provider's (ugly) logo contains JavaScript (TM) which we have decided you may not use. This occurs regardless of whether sellers have any desire to accept this provider's payments.
Unfortunately, the occurrence of this bug is not without negative consequences for many Billpoint members who sell on eBay. In addition to being forced to waste time reviewing their listings, members of this payment service also run the risk of:
* SPAM A LA HEMINGWAY: The unintended appearance of this material in your auctions may cause you to receive unsolicited email containing purple prose and sob stories about evil empires stealing money and baby daughters with no place to rest their sweet little heads.
* HIGHER FEES: Credit card payments under $15 cost more to receive through this provider than Billpoint; Billpoint standard account users pay $0.35 per transaction, but the "other" members pay a fee which varies on a monthly basis and always in a non-decreasing manner.
Bottom line: we're better than they are, nyah nyah nyah. (No takebacks!)
We hope that this "bug" does not interfere with your auctions. Thank you for using Billpoint to buy and sell online.
Sincerely,
Meg and Friends

We had two auctions end Sunday via BIN with the new 'changing PayPal logo' in them.
Both were relisted without problem last night. Both have the correct PayPal logos intact. (yes, the new one)
Am I missing something or are you saying that cannot be done??
I am NOT a PP rep. (nor do I have any other interest than being a user) but I sure don't have any of the problems that some seem to have!
I find it hard to believe that anyone (besides me) is still using PP...........but that's fine.....all the more for me!
About 95% of our internet problems left when we switched to Ameritech DSL a couple weeks ago.
Goodbye AOL. (after 5 years)
Relists are fast & trouble free, no more slow loading pictures........
....ya wanna bash AOL I can help ya.
But as for PP, I have nothing to complain about......yet!
(but if it does happen, I will be right here letting you know)

the problem is in the new logo not the old ones ...it's only the logo's that change into a buy now logo after the auction closes..you have to pick this on paypals site to be added to your actions ...there old logos work fine...it;s just the new style

Ok, now I'm really lost.....I have the new logos in my relisted auctions!
Plus, this from [email protected] new changing PP logo DOES meet the ebay requirement so your auctions are fine.
I got that statment off one of ebays support boards, were lots of people are having all kinds of problems!
Scary............mine still works fine.

In fact, here is the problem and the [email protected] answer...... if you check your relisting description.....
"Notice the part that says
src="http://images.paypal.com/images/js/logo.js
This is a javascript "include", and is the source of the paypal/javascript/relist problem. If you have this in your description, you need to remove all that code and then get the new smart logo from PayPal."
And what's more confusing? I also relisted an older auction Sunday night that contains the old logo and it worked without problem!
Maybe I better go buy a lotto ticket........

Not making any statement as to whether ebay has the right to say "no off ebay sales"...just wondering something.
Couldn't this "buy it now" paypal logo, which is obviously meant to allow the seller to sell an item after the auction ended that was not sold during the auction, be considered in violation of ebays rules on off site sales?

I don't know whey anyone would want a linked logo of any kind on their auctions. All links slow down page loading. Plus when you link to PayPal for the logo anytime someone views your auction page PayPal tries to send them a send a cookie. If anyone opens the link what they are actually doing is opening a page *from* the PayPal site. PayPal send more cookies and who know what else. I am not sure if PayPal has an embedded bot or bug in the logo to work in conjunction with the cookie. But I strongly suspect that whatever is in the logo, it tells the cookie to call home to PayPal. I suspect this so strongly because AdSubtract reads the code in the logo and deflects it because it thinks it is an ad, and most ads have tracking bots and bugs. The PayPal logo can also cause conflicts and cause pages to hang or not load depending on how your browser is set up.
PayPal is so bad with this nonsense that they send the PayPal "stronghold" cookie embedded in their emails too.
I didn't know about the Java too. What is so important about having the PayPal logo on the page anyway?

Not according to ebay's own staff. Here is the statement from a user and ebay's own response....
>Well I posted the above and tried the new PayPal smart logo that changes to the "Buy it Now" at end of auction and it seemed to work no Java error.<

From what you say, it's working exactly as it should; PayPal now has a smart logo that adheres to our requirements.

My response.....because it's a buyers market.
ANYTHING that I can do to make it easier for the customer to buy benefits me, one way or another. AS for slowing down the loading time if it does I sure don't see it. My auctions are very simple......
.....a short description of the item, an edited photo and the shipping info.....that's it.
No fancy backgrounds, no animated gifs or none of the other needless junk floating around that distracts from the item itself.
I guess that I can afford the extra millisecond it takes for the PayPal logo to load.
>>What is so important about having the PayPal logo on the page anyway?<<
Click and I'm paid, that simple and that important.
Works for me, your results may vary.

Umm what's the big deal about this? I thought most folks already knew that eBay has a ban on scripts in auctions.
Just erase the bloody lines that Paypal adds after the auction starts and relist and let the auto-inserter thingy put it back later.

I used to have the plain HTML logo that PayPal offered. Even that was sometimes inaccessible becasue of some server glitch and it would look awful on an auction page.
The real question is why anyone would want to give PayPal free advertising in the first place. I no longer even mention PayPal.

When relisting an item...scroll way down in your description box, highlight and delete all paypal text. Then relist. Paypal is telling me that they're new logos have acceptable Javascript in them. I hope..we'll see.
