I wonder what impact Dale Earnhardt's death had on sales at eBay & Yahoo. I know my sales increased dramatically during that time... it had been slower than mollasses until that happened.
So... does that mean that the Sell-Thru Rate reported during those two or months really count? Or should it be considered an unusal circumstance which spiked sales during that time?

i trackes the lsitings and final prices from the moment i saw the crash, i was watching the race......here are some close approximate numbers based on my memory. i followed for about 2 weeks......on that sunday, i thnk it was sun. and not sat., anyway, before the crash there were approx 1200 listings, wed. there were close to 10,000 listings.....by the end of the 2 weeks listings were at about 5000........as for prices i can tell ya that for the first 3 to 5 days prices were outrageous, example an earnhardt coke bottle, full, was selling for 60 to 75 bucks, normally you would get less than 5 for them. starting lineup figures of E were hard to even sell, even at a few dollars, they were going for 100 bucks........it quicly settled down after 5 days or so.........
when adam petty died the same thing happened but not with the large number of listings. as for prices i can say, from personal experience, i had a coke pole topper sign (the kind you see in the store with the displays on a pole, with the price on it)poster board i sold it for 80 bucks and sold a 2nd one i had to the next bidder at 79....before his death i had listed them atleast 4 times and could not get $4.99. the were unused, no prices but the appeal was that they were of adam, kyle(his dad) and his mom........ok now i know some will say profiteer, i say think what you want, i call it business.......
