I sold a notebook LCD screen on Ebay. The screen was pulled out from a working Mag Verity but it has the same part number with Gateway solo notebook. I advertised it for Gateway Solo since more Gateway Solo buyers looking for this screen then Mag Verity. I never claimed that it was pulled from a Gateway Solo. The buyer received the screen and claimed that the sreen is defective and it does not posting image. He never said anything about compatibility issue, I told him to check his notebook to make sure that the fault is at his notebook and not my screen since I know it was working before shipping, he then told me that the fault is at my screen. I told him to send it back for me to check and for a possible refund. He replied to me and told me that he send it back and he had his tech cut 20 cables and tried to connect the screen with different connector. He told me that he only want $200 back and I can keep $25 for the trouble. The issue here is not $25, he altered my merchandise without my consent and leave a screen with 20 cut wires. I told him that I can't honor the warranty. Please advise me what else to do, he is threatening for negative feedback.

Let him leave the feedback and post a reply to it that the buyer altered the item, any reasonable future buyer can see through that.
I can't imagine even asking for a refund much less expecting one in this case.
Good luck, it sounds like you got one of the "duds" for buyers.

His having the thing butchered and then asking for a refund is so blatantly stupid, that I suspect he is scamming you for the 200. Don't give him him anything. Your response to his neg, IF you get one will make him look worse than you.

I can't leave him a neg feedback since I already left him a postive after receiving payment. Here are some of his reasons:
" I did nothing other that have the tech splice the cables. Now you tell me there is a consignor. What gives? This is not totally unacceptable. Please look at the whole picture and come up with a better solution."
"I tried to make what you sent me work. You said it came okay and was pulled okay. It's bad, just refund the asked for difference and we are okay. I'm not trying to screw you, just trying to make things work out okay. "

I wasn't suggesting that you leave him negative feedback. Only that you respond in YOUR profile to HIS feedback of you.
Before emailing him again, check with Gateway and see if they use a different connector. I couldn't imagine that situation if they really have the same part number, but you never know.
Stay calm, get all the information and then email him back. If he's expecting something by email in the meantime, send him a short one line, "I've got to check some things first. I'll contact you Monday evening."
I DOUBT I would refund him the money. He should have contacted you BEFORE he cut the wires and said there was a problem. That's his fault, anyway you slice it.
