Just bringing back to top in hopes that someone new will be online that might be able to help me. Maybe someone who sells these purses. I have one of each and don't want to list them if they are not real and get in trouble. They were bought in nice areas of town at a yard sale.

Go over and scroll through the eBay Trust & Safety board. There's a lady who posts there who is an expert on these and gives links to check them out.

Just an odd note I always thought Chanel did a lot to keep there items upscale and was shocked to see Chanel purses being sold at COSCO (Similiar to Sam's Club) it was still $1100 but odd to see displayed next to discounted $5.99 VHS tapes.

What did you pay for the purses?
Genuine Chanel is numbered & has a certificate
of authenticity that comes with the bag.
There are tons of copies of both Kate Spade
& Chanel that cost about $20- $30 new--readily
available fron New York street vendors &
other sources. If you live near a high-end
department store like Saks or Neiman's you
might want to bring the bag into the Kate
Spade or Chanel departments and compare the
logos. The copies usually have clumsy type
if you look closely.
Also, check out Kate Spade & Chanel on ebay
and see what the real labels & genuine bags
look like.
Regarding Chanel at Costco, I doubt that
the powers that be at Chanel would knowingly
allow their merchandise to be sold by any
discounter.
These actually might be top of the line
Chanel forgeries made in China.

Actually the ones at Cosco are authentic, I checked with a friend at Chanel in NY. Apparently they have a deal going with them on selling last seasons items in small quantities. I also noticed Breitling & Tag Heur watches.
It just seemed odd to see what used to be exclusively boutique and high end department store items sold at a discounter.
Besides in CT if Cosco was selling fake purses they would have there business liscense pulled immediately. NY & CT are zero tolerence on fake items sold at retailers. Though NY runs hot and cold.
You may even want to bring the purse to the Store and ask a sales person if it is authentic. I did this with a rolex baby diner set and they were more then happy to give me a yes or no. If you want an appraisal it is most likely going to cost you though.

I must be really out of the loop (or just too poor to know better). I never even heard of kate spade until I started frequenting these boards...ignorance is bliss

Inquiring minds want to know--
which Connecticut Cosco carries Chanel?
I have an affluent friend in New York
who will walk there if necessary....
Do they just have bags or do they also
have clothing & shoes? I know I will
have a hard time convincing her this is
true, but hey....'ya never know.

Joe,
Breiting makes a fabulous watch.
You might want to ask your friend at
Chanel to check out the Breitlings both
new (and possibly pre-owned) at the big
Tourneau watch store on 57th Street in NY.
Its right across the street from Chanel.
The prices there are negotiable, as they
are at most of the New York watch stores.
But at least you'll have a retail price
to guide you if Cosco tempts...
Good luck.
