I am using internet explorer. Is anyone getting an illegal operation message when they go into a search in ebay. Does anyone know what is wrong and if it is my computer?
I will be waiting to hear. Thanks

Whew secondmouse. I have been doing cartwheels to figure out what is happening. Now I can breathe easier. Yes it is only in the current search for me also. Are you using Internet Explorer or Netscape? I am trying to find my download CD for Netscape because It was erased off my computer by Compaq and MSN so it's off to Netscape and the 4.5 download. Thanks for your quick response.

I was using IE, switched over to Netscape and everything seems ok with it. Apparently it's not just you & I...I checked the E-Bay boards and there are some posts over there about this problem, and some had contacted E-Bay so hopefully it will get resolved soon. Good luck!

The problem still exists, and ebay seems to be ignoring it - at least there's nothing on their announcement board about it, and the "search" status light is green (as usual, do those lights ever really change color?).
I think if you have auctions ending soon you are SOL on last-minute shoppers finding and bidding on them. You might want to ask ebay for your money back!

I was having somewhat of a similiar problem after I received an update from AOL. It turns out it is in Internet Explorer. I had to go into IE, Tools, Internet Options, Advanced, and uncheck the HTTP.1 squares, or just have it reset to default values and then everything worked fine. The only problem I am having now is that it has to be redone after I leave AOL and go to another browser.
I like long walks, especially when they are taken by people
who annoy me.

It is in the to do list to write some lines for those lights to change color.

If you routinely get an illegal operaton shutdown from IE go into your temporary internet files and delete everything (make sure IE is not open). This has happened to me several times.

I have the problem of when I try to relist auctions on E-Bay, my browser goes totally wacko and I have to restart my computer. So I'm not able to relist my E-Bay auctions unless I do it on AW.I've not had these problems with internet explorer before, just in the last few days.

I get these same messages on occasion. I just click on the "OK" and go on my merry way...no adverse results so far.

It could be that Ebay has made an upgrade to there site that requires IE 5.5 if you are useing an older browser up gradeing might help.
Or it could be that ebay made an upgrade that requires some part of IE you some how disabled at one time or another.
in this case use the internet explorer repair or restore feature found in your control pannel ..

The problem disappeared yesterday afternoon.
I did nothing to my computer or browser.
I believe ebay added something, maybe a script, to search and made the problem.
And they fixed it by backing out.
When will ebay learn if it ain't broke don't mess with it?
