WAV files are huge. Consider converting them to MP3 format first.

I see no problems AS LONG AS YOU MAKE IT A CLICKABLE LINK!!! I have cable, it downloaded within a second or two, but many people don't have it yet and they won't be happy to wait if it automatically downloads. In fact, a lot of people immediately back out if any sort of sound file starts automatically coming through.

But your description was good (and you have a nice voice!).

It downloads fast for me on cable. The voice sounds good. It is very calm and relaxed yet you sound so excited when you post here.

I am not sure how many people will click on it? I think most people still prefer to read the descriptions.

I don't have cable & it downloaded fast for me, but it skipped a lot. There was more silence than voice.
You DO have a nice voice & I kinda like the idea.

So what you are saying is never try somthing new???

Today the media send you streaming video ..and i want to add somthing more to the auction. i would still have all the info that i added before but i would improve it...are you saying you would keep your auctions the same and not try to improve them ...better them????

Alos remember i stated that i am better with my voice then with the words??

The second one sounds okay also and it didn't skip.

If you think you may get more bids this way I guess there is nothing wrong with trying it. You know your customers better than we do and maybe they will like it.

Keep in mind that there are alot of people like me who *HATE* machines that make noise. Especially late at night when the other half is sleeping. My speakers are only turned on when I deliberately want to listen to something, and certainly not for an auction.

If your writing skills need improvement, have your other half edit them for you.
You'll get much better results that way.

When my wife has time she helps..it's just really fustrating ...when you can speak..and use the bigger words...and make full sentences, but when you write..your stuck!!!!

i would make this a clickable link ...this would mean that you would have the choice to read the auction and or listen to me speak about the item as well....

i really do think this would be a good idea!!!!

i sold bammboo wind chimes on ebay...when i added an mp3 of the wind chimes in the wind making sounds.... my sales went threw the roof

I thought it is great, and I would definitely click on it in a listing because I am way too curious to bypass it. I give kudos for anyone who tries something different. If you had the wav link next to the photo so when you're describing it and they're looking at the photo, that would be a really powerful listing that comes to life and sucks in bidders to buy. Of course half the people say they won't bid, but that's the way it always is in life. The other half are begging for soemthing fresh.

Personally I have no interest in listening to anyone's voice.
If the wave file was to listen to the item you were selling, such as wind chimes, I would click on it.

I've seen sellers use wave files to help describe items that produced sound, and I believe they helped sell the item.

i wouldn't click on the link either. unless it was for the windchime example. when i look at a listing, i just want the photos to load as soon as possible, and if i like the photo, to read the description. then i want out.

must say, you *do* have a very nice voice.

I like the idea too! (And yes, another vote for "You do have a nice voice"! )

As long as the link doesn't automatically play and the viewer (listener) has the OPTION of playing the file, it can only help in my view. If I saw a listing with a link for an audio description, I would surely click on it.

Now, as to the MP3, I am probably the only loser in America that has not got an MP3 player downloaded yet. If you want to cover your bases, give two links. One for MP3, and one for the technically impared such as myself with the standard wav format. Also be sure to list parenthetically the file size so they know before clicking what the wait time might be.

Go For IT!!!

It took me almost 2 MINUTES to download the pigbank.wav. This would probably be a problem for some impatient people who would not wait, especially if it were toward the end of an auction. I have a really new computer, 56K modem, on dial-up with a national ISP. However, my connection speed is usually around 24,000. Everyone needs to remember when designing auctions that the world is not on cable or DSL. However, it is a neat idea and if you have it as an option it might be okay. You have a great voice! I used to write voiceovers for a TV station and would have loved to have that voice doing them.

to be honest i think its a great idea for certain items. i would not do it on everything but maybe would on some things that would bring higher $$$$.i would also listen if i were a bidder.....as for the DL time, i got it in less than 5 seconds, i am on cable...for all you dtill toying with 56k, time to upgrade, cable/dsl are worth every penny and more, but don't tell them that they will raise the fees

a link would be OK
DOn't have it play automaticly I listen to net radio when surf ebay and nothing worse than some tiny music coming on I will immediatley hit the back button and move on

also when I was using a microsoft mouse and i clicked on a auction playing music it would kill my autscroll function untill i rebooted IE
I see lots of Negative Little to no Positive.

spock here......

Hi eastwest,

I think it is a great idea, something new and inovated. Add me to the list of thinking you have a very pleasant and kind voice(sexy too .

If I were a serious bidder interested in one of your auctions you bet I'd listen. I'd want to learn all I can about the product I'm buying and after hearing you speak you'd probably get my bid. You can tell alot about the way a person sounds versus just reading typed words.

And for the "looky-loos who cares if they listen.

You can only help your auction by putting it in as long as it remains the bidders option to listen or not.

I'd put a one line plug with the link making it irresistable to pass up the opportunity to hear that sexy voice

Nothing wrong with giving the bidder the OPTION to listen to your audio file, but I wouldn't use it instead of text. If you have a problem with creating text, but can create an audio file, why not get a program like Dragon Dictate or IBM Viavoice to translate your voice to text.

I wonder if anyone has tried this in the adult categories?

Not that I am planning to or anything like that but I was wondering how it would work? It has potential to boost sales.
