Hi. I sent an item with delivery confirmation and signature required. DC shows only the scan date of the package, but no other scans. No confirmation on signature neither.

How do I go about "tracking" this package?

I don't think you can "track" it.
How long has it been? Does the addressee say he hasn't received it, and hasn't been left notices at his door?

It has been over two weeks now. It went from California to Brooklyn, New York. I've had delays before due to bad weather, but two weeks seems a little long even for USPS Priority. Buyer confirmed no yellow slip was left for her. Buyer also confirmed package has not arrived (yet).

I've never lost a package and hope this is not my first. I'm out $500 if this is lost. The one time I don't use insurance...

You might give copies of the DC and SR to the postmaster, maybe he'll look into it - but usually the PO won't do anything for 30 days.

And by then I would bet it will show up. With DC and SR it either got hung up somewhere for "special handling" or it's just a fluke.

thanks capotasto. That makes me feel better. I'll pass the 30-day information to the buyer.

There's a very good chance it is sitting in their post office unclaimed. I've had packages take many days via Priority mail and no one left a notice to the fact that it was sitting there.

Poor labeling is often the undoing of many packages. Always use zip+4 and barcodes and make sure the label is covered with clear plastic tape.

Small consolation; your DC is your proof of mailing. You aren't directly liable for a postal failure.

Check the Post Office's auctions on eBay for the item.

I agree with the pevious poster - you call your post office to see if it happens to still be there - also have your bidder call his/her PO. At work we recently had someone ship a laptop priority, it was supposed to arrive on a Monday - but Thursday it was still a no-show. Called the PO - they found it, the new carrier for our route "Didn't know how to get into the builing" to deliver it. That was a funning story since my company gets our mail delivered in big carrying tubs.

Greetings:

I recently had a package "lost" in Brooklyn.
There was no slip on the door...etc.

The buyer stopped by his local post office and made an inquiry at the counter and they produced the package right away. Seems that if they are not comfortable leaving a package or need a signature they return the item to the PO. They are suppose to leave a sticker but from my experience the stickers disappear a lot!

Good Luck.
