Does anyone have any book recommendations on how to identify vintage clothing. I just started selling vintage clothing and am having a hard time identifying time periods and styles.

Thanks
Joyce

Hi Jlady! I've been collecting and selling vintage clothing for over 20 years...and can't decide what books to recommend! There are so many. Before investing in any I'd suggest spending an afternoon at a big library and browse through their books, to see which ones might be most helpful to you. What age of clothing are you dealing with...Victorian?, or early 20th century?, or more recent, such as 60's and 70's fun stuff (some of which can be surprisingly valuable!) One source for dating which is sometimes overlooked is old catalogues. They can be very helpful, and there are still a fair number around. Good luck with your clothing!
