Ebay listings are now picked up by the 'Shopper' search in the altavista search engine.
I did a bit of testing and very few ebay search terms come up in the results. None of my auctions came up and I was the only one with the search term on ebay. I am wondering what kind of algorithm ebay is using to determine who goes into the shooper? I thought it was store sellers only, and then thought it was by ending time, but neither is the case. Read the story if you're interested, and try to see if your auctions come up in the altavista shopper.

it seems to be that both ebay stores and auction items will be included in the alta vista search, but it said only 3 most current ebay listings will show up in the result page??
as ebay has so many similar items,3 is not even a drop in the bucket??
i can see this be helpful if a shopper is looking for say sony mavica fd 73 and he can easily compare condition, price and shipping among items shown up in a search?
but if he searches for antique blue and white porcelain vase, the most recent 3 ebay items which show up may not be enough ?
also there is such thing as too much of a good thing, how much shop and compare does one need, there may be a difference of 25 dollars among different sellers selling identical products, less is not always the best, shipping and timely delivery and good packing counts too.
