Yesterday there was a post on Ebay's message forum for Stores that the free trial period was being extended to 10/1. Today we can't find any trace of that message nor any other messages relating to that extension.. does anyone happen to have the text from that message available they could post?

I wouldn't be surprised.

Let's face it, if they don't extend the "freebie" offer for the Storefronts, I believe, MANY folks (Mom & Pop Shops) would be DUMPING them by the first of September....since the lack of features and/or exposure for the eBay Storefronts would NOT justify the effort or expense of keeping a Storefront open in many cases.... and eBay can't have that, since the Storefront NUMBERS are important for (appearing successful) and drawing in the BIG BOYS.

Gotta use the Mom & Pops as CHUM (again) for the BIG RETAILERS to come aboard, before eBay can afford to have all of those Mom & Pop shops close down!

Least, that's what I think!

Per Jerry in responses to 2 threads re: the pulled messages - he pulled them because the official announcement is "coming soon".

Also, don't have info yet on if the listing fee alone is going to be free or if you'll be paying the $9.95 but no listing fees for September.

I didn't see nothing on any extention as of yet yesterday when I relaunch some stuff the store was still saying free till september 1.

I Don't doubt they will extend all or some part of the offer for some months to come..

I am going to work on some type of advrtiseing for my store front see if I cant drum up more interest but if it dont start offering some return it will go I wont pay even a low fee for no sales I can get that from any small site...

I seen the post by Jerry also.
Something about a meeting with sellers and ebay they said they would extend the promo due to the ongoing problems still with the stores.
someone asked Jerry for a confirmation and he said yes they would be extended. No details given.

This from the Krause Publications SuperSeller Newsletter I received in my emailbox tonight:

eBay extends free Stores offer

SuperSellers who have set up eBay Stores will have another month to build their businesses before fees go into effect, eBay confirmed Wednesday.

eBay plans to promote the stores heavily during that time, which includes the back-to-school sales period, to drive traffic to the stores, an eBay spokesman said. The subscription and fixed-price listing fees, which had been scheduled to start Sept. 1, will be waived until Oct. 1.

"We continue working with the sellers and fine-tuning eBay Stores," said eBay spokesman Kevin Pursglove. "To date, the sellers have been very involved, incredibly supportive and very patient as more and more sellers sign up for eBay Stores."

Many of the SuperSellers polled recently complained that they had experienced low traffic and few sales on their eBay Stores during the first few weeks of the program, and they said there had been numerous bugs to work out, including lack of an adequate search engine.

"Many sellers have opened Stores in the last two months, and we know you are still experimenting with the right mix of auction-style and fixed-price listings," eBay said on its announcements page. "We'd like to give you some more time to experiment."

***eBay Stores Special Offer Extended One Month!***

We are happy to announce that we are extending our preview period for
eBay Stores (www.ebaystores.com), and have decided to waive
subscription and Stores fixed price listing fees for one more month,
until October 1st. We are very excited by the number of people who
have opened up Stores, and want to do something to thank you for your
enthusiasm.

Many sellers have opened Stores in the last two months, and we know
you are still experimenting with the right mix of auction-style and
fixed price listings. We'd like to give you some more time to
experiment.

Stay tuned for several improvements and enhancements to Stores in the
near future. Also, throughout the months of August and September, eBay
is launching several promotions to increase exposure of eBay Stores.
Our Back to School promotion is kicking off shortly, with Stores as a
major component. We also have a Stores—specific Grand Opening Event
coming in September. We want Store sellers to be able to take
advantage of these promotions!

So, take the time to experiment with your eBay Store. Make it your own
slice of eBay, and get creative with your auction-style listings to
drive additional buyers to your Store.

Have fun and happy selling!

Regards,
eBay

At least they are now searchable. That should help bidders. It picks up all BIN items, including those up for auction.
