Hi All,
Just have to vent for a moment.
Buyer sent payment about 2 weeks ago and I never recieved it. Got an email asking where his item is and I had to tell him I hadn't been paid yet. At first I was worried that I had somehow misplaced it, so I looked through everything just in case that had happened, but nada. He is getting fidgety (don't blame him). Item with shipping was about $25.
I asked him to see if the money order could be traced or something and also told him that of course the mail can be unpredictible, so who knows-- it could still show up.
Anything else I can do for him that I am not thinking of? Any comments appreciated.
Thanks!

Pretty much the ball is in his court. Other than suggesting, assuming you do this, that they use paypal, etc., instead of mailing money orders.

I once had a money order arrive 3 months after it was mailed. The person went to the money order place after 30 days and canceled the first money order, They sent the second one. It was cashed and the item sent and received before the first MO arrived. Good thing I caught it before I tried to cash it. I mailed it back and he returned it to the MO place.

I have 900+ sales completed on ebay and out of them maybe 10 times this happened to me.

8 ~ of them never sent second payment as promissed ( I assured them that I would return the first payment if it every did arrive, they never did send it)
1 ~ emailed me to say that since I didn't receive her payment, she no longer needed the dress !! ( of all the nerve )
1 ~ did send second payment but I never did receive the first one !!

So now when this happens, if i don't receive their payment within 10 days I don't fool around any more ~ I just go ahead and relist item after emailing them ( if I would ever receive their payment, I would just return it to them )

I mailed a postal money order the very next morning one time. Seller received it three weeks later. In the meantime, I looked like a deadbeat (which is why one should be very cautious about negging).

I also had a payment returned to me by the post office after three weeks or so with the zip code torn off--evidently the postal carrier or a postal machine caused the problem, since it was aok when I mailed it. I enclosed the entire envelope in a new envelope and remialed it.

Here's my worst eBay experience. I mailed a check. Seller said she never received it. After three weeks, I sent a postal money order. Seller cashed the money order. (I was too cheap or too trusting to cancel the check).

A month after that, seller cashed the check also. I almost did not catch it. It took me six months and lots of threats to get my $350.00 back.

experience #1:

right after end of auction, buyer asks if i'll accept her check. i say ok. 8 or so days pass. i email and ask if she'd sent it. she says she did, has copy of check. apologizes profusely, sends money order with sase to return her check if it ever shows up here. i send item and ask her to tell me if the check shows up at her place. 3 weeks after i've sent her item, check shows up here, postmarked 3 days before i received it. i return it to her.

experience #2:

buyer does a bin, replies that she'll send m.o.. a week later emails to ask if i've received payment. no. explain above situation to her. another week passes. no payment. i email saying she should go to where she purchased m.o., to post office if she got it there, make sure it hasn't been cashed. she replies she sent check, and that's probably why the post office hasn't delivered it yet (??). another week passes. no payment. i email and tell her if i don't get payment by the following day, i'm going to call it quits, use 'parties mutually agree' option, assure her this won't go against her, get fees back. naturally, no payment the next day. i file. email to tell her this and that ebay will be sending her an email on it. relist. her reply was 'that's terrible. i'll send you paypal payment tonight.' (fortunately, she didn't.)
